- Inspiring video, we all have our own challenges and some have more then most, I wish we could all have the strength you have to push through and face them head on (no pun intended). - I found your video while searching for a solution to change the plugs on my 2010 LTZ, not only did I learn that its possible to do without removing the intake, I more importantly learned that at my current 60,000 miles I can put the job off for 40,000 miles more! Thanks! Subscribed.

Thank You for sharing your video! They want to charge $500 for this job, stating the intake has to be removed
@ClusterHeadSurvivor Жыл бұрын
Well they are right. To do it easier is to remove the intake.

Man, what a PITA. Just strengthens my resolve to stick with rwd for as long as possible. Like the '79, any old deep socket and maybe an extension and presto chango you are done. . Keep an eye on the princess auto, they have magnetic spark plug socket on sale every now and again. Picked up a regular one and one with the captured extension to try on the 4.6 since I lost that rubber insert down a plug hole one too many times as well. We'll see how that goes next plug change. But at least COPs are nice, no more plug wires to keep track of.

Hence my long needle nose pliers for the grommet....lol 79 I can change plugs in 20 with headers. The truck is hours as the hooker headers are so close, and the #8 is on the firewall. Nightmare, as bad as 08 Malibu, I had a Marauder before the truck, the easiest motor I ever worked on. Alternator replaced in under 5 min.
@alexb.13207 жыл бұрын
About the same on the Nova, I got heddmans on it. The #1 plug I have to change with an open end wrench of all things cause the tube crosses almost completely over the plug. Tried a proper spark plug socket on it once, (with a wrench on the hex) not enough clearance to get the plug fully unthreaded. Had to screw it back in to remove the socket, so open end wrench it is. Gotta laugh everytime. Yeah, the 4.6 is super easy compared to the 5.0L mgm which was also easy. '03 or '04 Marauder? Black, Silver or Blue?
@ClusterHeadSurvivor7 жыл бұрын
#6 and #8 on truck with hooker headers takes over an hour and many tools. Nightmare ! The Marauder I had was an 03 and black color. Sold it to buy the truck, Nicest car I ever owned.

I keep fouling plugs about every 10,000 miles. So glad I figured out how to do mine in my 03 deathstar. It looks like I gotta tear more stuff apart to get to my back plugs. I miss my 4 cylinder cars.

Thanks for the upload, really helpful. Hopefully you or someone out there can help me with an issue I am having with my malibu. I have a 2012 LTZ with the 3.6 in it also, with 10004 miles on it, the car can be in second gear will drop down to first gear but wont go back into second gear and wont go past 40, but if I pull over and put the car in park then back into drive, it corrects itself, plus when I put it in drive from park or reverse, seems to be like 3 to 5 second delay, before going into drive, had the fluid checked, (did change the fluid about 2 yaers at around 75k mikes)at my mechanic, they said the fluid was really clean and didn't seem to have any issues with that, plus they put it on the computer, but since the engine light hasn't came on, they wouldn't get any codes, drove it to my dealer the other day when it was doing it to see if they could diagnose the problem, but told me I had to make an appointment to get it looked at, which is really frustrating cause it dosen't do it all the time.
@ClusterHeadSurvivor4 жыл бұрын
It needs to be connected to a GM dealer level scan tool not a cheap code tester. Don't waste money on guessing, having a buddy with a $35 scan tool check it. Spend the money and have a certified tech diagnose it to determine the cause and repair. Best of Luck,
@nanny54able4 жыл бұрын
@@ClusterHeadSurvivor Thank you, made an appointment to get it in Monday, hopefully it's nothing too expensive.

@@ClusterHeadSurvivor Wanted to give you an update on my Malibu in case you or someone else ran into the same problem, it's called a "Transmission control module" which I was told very rarely goes out, but unfortunately mine did. The price for the dealer to replace is $1,400.00

I have a blinking Check engine lite and Chevy dealer informed me i have a Cylinder #2 misfire. Would swapping out the spark plugs fix that? Nice video!
@ClusterHeadSurvivor6 жыл бұрын
A Proper diagnosis would determine the best fix. could be anything from a coil pack to plug to? Guessing will cost you more than diagnosing. Having spent many years in shops....People try to google a repair and usually ends up costing them more. Also, electrical parts are nonreturnable. Find a trust worthy technician.
