So just did this job on my '17 XC60. Thank you for the video. Some tips from my experience. 1)It took me 5 minutes to figure out the first clip to disconnect the wire from the coil pack. The next 3, 1 second each. The trick is to push up at the lowest point of the clip, not the sides or where the connector goes in. 2) Per the video, it says to remove the breather tube to get access to the last coil pack. No matter how hard I cussed, I couldn't get mine off. Gave up, and just tried to remove the pack with the breather still attached. Just life slightly, and rotate it out of the space. Really easy. Going back in, just as easy. Try this first. 3) I used a piece of 3/4" irrigation tube (black kind from home depot, for your drip system). Fits perfectly around the old plug coming out, and the new plug going in. Easy to make sure you don't cross thread your new plug as you reinsert as it has just enough tension on the plug to allow you to tighten 'hand tight' but will start to slip if any resistance is met when cross threaded. All told, took me 30 minutes. Next time, it will take 10. Thanks again for the video.

Awesome video @Wrenching Mafia. Saved me $$$$. Our "check engine" light came on and after resetting it it came on again. Shop wanted $1250 to do this after they diagnosed it as "misfiring and replace ignition coils". I bought a knockoff ignition coil and spark plug kit for $83 (shop wanted $800 for parts) and did the work as described here. FWIW I did not have to remove the breather hose. Just pushed it out of the way, making sure it did not break. Also, I did check the spark plug gaps and they appeared to be preset from the factory. Car runs great. Thanks again!!

I’m curious. One Volvo mechanic says to not put anti seize compound on the plugs because it causes arcing. What exactly is the anti seize compound made of? Is it really necessary?

I recently had a cylinder one misfire on my 2015 Volvo V60 T5 (4 Cyl). One of the spark plugs were seized, I believe in cylinder one. After removing all spark plugs I replaced all with genuine Volvo plugs. Car seemed to drive fine for a few days then cylinder one misfire occurred again. I cleared codes and swapped call packs to see if it was a coil pack issue. Three or four days later cylinder one misfire again. Any advice would be great.

Never use anti-seize. You will end up over torquing the spark plugs. They are supposed to be replaced based on mileage or time to minimise the risk that they seize and the chromium plating also minimises that risk. Also don’t drop them into the spark plug holes like that because you risk cracking the ceramic insulator.

So....I was in the dealer service department today and they wanted to replace my spark plugs on my 2016 XC 60 with 70,000 miles. $260. Not sure what the plugs cost but it seems to be a bit high on cost.

@@WrenchingMafia However even at a "list price" of $75.00 for a set of 4, www.volvowholesaleparts.com/oem-parts/volvo-spark-plug-31673604?c=Zz1lbGVjdHJpY2FsJnM9aWduaXRpb24tc3lzdGVtJmw9MSZuPVNlYXJjaCBSZXN1bHRzJmE9dm9sdm8mbz14YzYwJnk9MjAxNiZ0PXQ1JmU9Mi0wbC1sNC1nYXM%3D, an additional $175 for an hour of shop labor is a bit steep.

@@markandrew1270 My shop wants $350, which is also ridiculous for a 1-hour (tops) job and parts, even at retail.

It's crazy what they charge you! For $260, I'm willing to bet that it's not even a Volvo/Denso spark plugs. Volvo spark plugs from FCPEuro costs $66 for pack of 4. This is extremely easy to do! Don't think it would take more than 15 minutes even with very minimal mechanic skills.
