Great tutorials. Can you do a video about the PLC securities? I would like to see how to password lock a compact 5380 PLC that is on companywide network. I don’t want any unauthorized persons access the PLC and try to force any changes. At the same time I want the second EtherNet port exposed to IT VLAN for remote HMIs and enable access everything from home via company VPN. Also like to know different methods to protect the source code.

If I'm going to change modules in the same program, for example swap 1756-OW16 with 1756-OB16, do I need to export the program scoped tags that are associated with the original modules and than import them once I've made the swap?

If you are doing this in an offline copy then just change it & correct the tags referencing the card. You can export then import if you want, either would work. It really depends on how much time you have to work on it

@@soviethammer645 yes, just note that if you only have one copy of the program then make a few copies as a save as to have some room to practice then double check. I always make backups, it's in our nature to make mistakes so this is why I say that

While running yes, just be careful to replace tags & routines names because once made, they are final unless you go offline & edit.
