Just replaced the master and slave in mine and couldn't figure out why I still had no pedal after every bleeding effort, and I removed the whole system like she did in the 1A Auto video. Then I saw how you bled the master by hand with that drill bit; so I went back in and did that... fixed the problem. I figured there must have been air trapped in there still but couldn't figure out what I missed.

Well that makes me happy. I think Eric and Sue both made better videos than I did but I wanted to show that little trick and the trick of pulling the fitting with a screwdriver. Everybody's got their something.

Update on my Elemant, I got her fixed! It was the alternator and found out that my battery was 5 yrs old too, The funny thing is that my brother n law was trying to tell me it was something else but I knew what was wrong with all the signs. He was saying it was something it was an electrical problem and not listening to me at all because Im a girl. Yes its a somewhat electrical . When I showed him that the alternator was smoking she shut up right away. LOL Again TY Clint for sharing your fixings of your sweet Frankenstein Element ♥

I'm glad you got it sorted! One of my first teachers when it comes to mechanical work was my mother. She grew up on a farm, the youngest of 4 brothers and sisters. Because she too small to work the fields she was in charge of keeping the machines running. She talked me through my first brake job when I was 9.

When I replaced the master and slave cylinders on my '05 E, I used a master cylinder from an early 2000's Civic (B-series engine) which is the same size and throw as is on the E but does not have that damper (the triangular item on the side). This is considered a performance upgrade as the control of the clutch becomes more direct. Often the damper fails and leaks (this is what happened with ETCG) or ruptures internally which may cause faulty clutch control.

@@clintsearcy3252 It delays clutch disengagement and likewise, delays clutch release. It is supposed to save clutch wear and tear. It is also used on the Si Civics with the 2.0L variant of the K-series engines. You will notice the difference but ironically makes working the clutch smoothly more difficult. I still have my OEM master and slave cylinders should I ever decide to downgrade.

@@clintsearcy3252 Some Hondas and Acuras have the dampers in the slave cylinders as an alternative. I can't speak to that scenario but the system only needs one.

I replaced the clutch master cylinder in my del Sol. It was easier than the slave cylinder.

In a span of 13 months I’ve had 3 aftermarket cmc failed.
