GREAT video. My ‘05 GS developed a leak on my right leg. Got the kit from BeemerBoneyard and had it fixed in 30 min, which included a cold beer.

Word of warning, on your plastic fairing, the 1/2 turn inner front one, change it for a screw (mine flew off at 70 mph) it hurt my knee like hell! Lovely fuel fitting job, great videos (I would love to see the out-takes) 😂🤣🇬🇧

The outtakes for this one involved a lot of gas on the floor in FEBRUARY!! :)

This is a really helpful tutorial on BMW. I love my 2008 R1200RT but it has been to the shop three times for this problem. I am going to do the work myself this time and buy the stainless steel part. Why did the dealer replace one defective part with another defective part as evidenced by its failure. Good tips in the video. Thanks

Great video! Can you tell me what size easy out you used to remove the broken fitting?

John, I'm sorry but I don't remember any more what size it was.

When I pulled the fitting out a piece of the inside wedged itself in the opening. Will the ez thread out work to retrieve that piece, or will it fall into the tank? Thanks
@BMWMOAorg2 жыл бұрын
In my experience, you always have to be careful with EZ-out type tools to ensure the debris doesn't fall the wrong way, but if it does, it's easy enough to shake it out of the tank.

Hi. I beg you. what gasket did you use for the thread???? well thank you
@BMWMOAorg Жыл бұрын
I used what Beemer Boneyard supplied in the kit, but any gas-proof threadlock will do the trick.

Hello I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my 2010 RT and accidentally broke the flow shut-off valve of the female QD do you know if it can be replaced ? Thank you
@BMWMOAorg2 жыл бұрын
Hey there - yes, you can replace the QD. I don't think you can replace just the valve on it, though. Most likely you'll need to replace the entire QD.
@MentallFloss2 жыл бұрын
@@BMWMOAorg I watched another video and I think that shut off valve is a part of the QD, will check it later today. I thought i had to replace the entire pump because of this shut off valve, was dreading it. Thank you

It seem liked I dropped a cylinder the other night and limped home on one cylinder. I checked all plugs and they all sparked as I turned the motor over with one out and grounded at a time and they all sparked. Do you think I'm having a fuel problem on my 2012 BMW R1200GS Adventure? Any insight will be much appreciated sir or anyone reading this. Thank you.
@BMWMOAorg3 жыл бұрын
Matt, you might want to check the ignition coils. You can get spark, but not enough to be effective if that makes sense. That would be my first guess without having the bike in front of me. Of course, it's been 5 months since you asked your question (sorry!) so maybe you figured it out by now? If you did, what was it?

@@BMWMOAorg I was not getting good compression on the right side. This is after swapping coils and plugs and fuel injectors for T-shooting. When I pulled the head and filled it with gas, it was leaking through the closed valves. I checked the rings and piston after pulling the jug off and they "passed" clearance checks. I also bought the cam jig tool and retimed the valves after I lapped the valves with coarse then fine compound. It started right away after reassembly. I did buy a coil and fuel injector to test and will now have these as spares. I just got back from an 11 state, 10 national forest trip through the southwest and had zero problems with the engine. Thanks for your thoughts though.

Hi I have the same problem but on the left side all injectors and coils and plugs checked I think may be I should try what you did I gave up changing so many sensors with no hope
@mattcero1 Жыл бұрын
Mine ended up being the valve timing went out of adjustment. I took the entire offending head off and did a valve job (proper lapping) and put it all back together using a cam locking tool and a TDC locking pin when I torqued the timing gears down and it started right up. FYI. @@rizwankhan5822
