Thank you! Your video bailed me out of a bad spot. I'm replacing the A/C evaporator core in a Buick Verano and I was stuck getting that damn IP tie bar to come free. I have to go further than you and go to the bare firewall but they live in the same neighborhood. Your good deed for the day is completed. Take the rest of the afternoon off my friend.

So to replace the heater core all I need to do is go to college for 8 years get a doctors degree in mineralogy. Find a bauxite deposit. Build a functioning mine. While the miners are working. Build a factory to refine the bauxite into aluminum. Then go back to college to get my doctor's degree in engineering. Spend a decade designing and perfecting the machinery to forge the aluminum into parts. And to think I was just going to take it to a mechanic for 300$. You really saved me a ton of headache. Oh got to go my classes are starting. I'll get back to you in 90 years and let you know how things are going.😅

Most appreciated man for all your trial-and-error. Probably gonna save me alot of time. I did the head gasket on mine and had hard water or calcium build up in the water jacket. Gonna inspect my tubes but hopefully they don't need replacement. Crossing my fingers. Thank you for all your hard work.

Actually, that heater core is easy to pull out. I bended that plastic out little bit by hand and got out the heater core. What is difficult is the air conditioner evaporator which sits above the heater core. Your job is for evaporator, i suspect.

Nightmares just in time for Halloween. I have a Volt and think the heater core is clogged. Think I can replace it just inside the cabin, and not disconnect A/C and stuff under the hood.
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 3 жыл бұрын
You should be able to just by removing a few trim pieces and working it out. The only reason I had to remove the dash here was due to the tubes being messed up on the outside. Most all the heater cores you buy will not even include the tubes. So that being said you just pop off the plastic collars, remove the tubes and replace the orings before replacing them in the new core. Thanks for watching.

@@s33therfan Mine is a Daewoo Lacetti Premier 2009 (a chevy cruz with the Daewoo logo), the heater core "which I've just by- passed two months ago", cost me a hell of a fortune! I had to replace the entire engine because of not spotting the leakage too early! Got the head gasket and other stuff damaged.

My 2011 Cruze is overheating. Think it could be a clogged heater core if I already replaced the thermostat, water pump, water outlet piece. Put some head gasket sealant in it but some cars have the heater core that can cause overheating I heard I’m not sure if this could be why
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 2 жыл бұрын
Having trapped air , bad radiator or degas cap, among gasket issues. I would get block tester from auto zone ( loaner ) and some test fluid and rule out the head gasket. Also I would pull out each spark plug and get flashlight to see if there is any coolant down in the cylinder. Hope you get it fixed soon , thanks for the feedback.

Quick question sir. Do you know what my cause a Chevy Cruse to produce a burning smell?
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 3 жыл бұрын
It could be a lot of things . Exactly what type of smell burning oil etc or a burning smell from inside the cabin . Also what year cruze. In 2017 I believe they switched over to a electric heater assembly. A burning smell from this would be common and I'm assuming goes away with usage as it would be more noticeable after non use during warm months. Hope this helps thanks for watching.
@tristain34
@tristain34 3 жыл бұрын
If its a burning oil smell you have an oil leak dripping on the engine. Only takes a little bit to burn off and for it to go into the cabin through the air vent.

Trying to figure out if mine is bad, car is overheating and hoses were firm. I changed thermostat and now heat doesn’t work and car is overheating still and hoses still firm, could it still be the heater core?
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 5 ай бұрын
I would go to autozone and get their loaner tool ( block tester ) just to rule out the headgasket before going any further. Could be a bloackage in the radiator also , but these are prone for headgasket failure. Hope this helps.

How did the tubes get damaged?
@s33therfan
@s33therfan 3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure , as the damage was done before I got the car. My best guess was some trying to remove the leaking heater hose incorrectly. I know I sure did not plan on the extent of work to replace them. Great question and thanks for watching.

@s33therfan

Most of the time they should not be damaged. Someone had damaged them prior to me owning the car. They most likely did not remove the quick connects properly. But if they are not bent or cut they should be fine. Thanks for the question.

@s33therfan
@s33therfan 10 ай бұрын
You don't need to bleed the coolant . I usually put down rags etc or use a pan. Draining ths coolant still leaves coolant in the heater core and tubes and lines. A couple of hose clamps up on the heater hoses will be the best option. Thanks for the question.
