Chapeau squire! I have a 900 convertible from 1992 with 255k miles. My health took a turn for the worse whilst restoring it, it has been lying rusting and in need of much work for many years now. I can weld to a pretty decent standard, but your videos have given me motivation to return to the project, I thank you sir! Alway great content and I love that you don't edit out imperfections whilst showing your progress, both with the car and as a person technically, it's a really unique way of recording the things that you do. I love it and look forward to your videos

Beautiful job. Now I see why body shops hate Saab cars. You make it look easy.

Fantastic job, Memphis. That Saab is coming along a treat. One thing is sure: You lucked out with that fender. Most often when panels are welded onto a unibody they are stressed members, and so structural. Thankfully removing the fender did not allow any other parts of the front clip to move, ruining the alignment of the panels. Well done indeed.

Lovely work - in case someone else has similar to do, the repair panels for that wing cost 65 quid for the outer & 30 for the inner lip section - if you didn't fancy removing the whole wing, it's an option. :-) Saabits have both.

I just wanted to tell you that you earned any mad respect from me, the work you did on the wheel wells is remarkable... I own a 02 Saab 9-3 Aero, and I am absolutely taken by the engineering of those cars, So now I am on my quest to Purchase a 1988 Saab 900 , is a Convertible though, is all that I could found at the moment, but in the near future I will be looking for a Saab 900 SPG.... Keep up your Amazing work... I'm a follower on your channel.... Awesome work brother!!!

You did that the hardest way possible, but you gained plenty of experience in welding it! I bought a wing secondhand with the wheelarch attached, which fit perfectly over the top of the inner wing of mine. Welded it up there, a few bolts and job done.

Did remove fender from a c900 turbo which I restored 20 years ago. There is a company in Denmark that sold me a brand new fender then. I am shure they still keep them in stock. The company is called klokkerholm. You will find them if you google. Keep it up. Those cars are getting rare and they are a blast to drive!!

It amazes me how Saab engineered some jobs, like changing the clutch disc, brilliantly easy... But *this* is how you remove what should be a bolt-on front fender.

Might I suggest use a drill at the intersection point between two cutting areas (i.e. you're cutting to the same spot) this will stop you from over cutting past the point. Also when you have panels off the car get them media/sand blasted to get to bare metal, less work, and less chance of deforming the metal due to pressure or heat.

another good tip is to empty your pockets of any metal objects (keys/coin etc) while welding, get too close and you can experience a not so pleasant arc

Around minute 6, I was wondering what did you use to melt the gravel protection and take it out so easily. I've seen most guys on youtube having a hard time to take it out, but your technic seems to achieve it quite easily. Thank you, and keep on the good work.
@darkfactory80822 жыл бұрын
If a weld starts to pull because of too much heat, hammer a bit the weld on the dolly, untill you hear a hard rebound sound, so the weld will get stretched a bit and the surrounding metal will relax. Other than that you're doing pretty good, although that car has a terrible construction in the mean of seams.. Seams in the wheel well are the perfect invitation for rust, besides, what can we do?! It's what it is.. Live it and learn it. Protection, seam sealer mandatory, dinitrol protection over paint also. Cheers, keep on. Oh, and avoid lap joints like a plague, wherever you can. 😇

Wow, watching this makes me glad I got into old Volvos (which have bolt-on fenders) rather than SAABs! What were they thinking - I'm assuming it must be an integral part of the car's structure, improving front end rigidity?

You've got all the parts to do the rear handbrake conversion from the parts car. Much better to have the rear handbrake setup. You should get the complete rear axle, front hub / steering knuckle, front and rear brake callipers, handbrake lever inside the car. Handbrake cables. Driveshafts. Driveshaft cups off the side of the gearbox.

Good work! I would recommend to use proper 2-K primer instead of the spraypaint, in a rattlecan the majority of the content is just thinner and the coat you will achieve is very thin... So don't leave the Saab with the primered wing sitting outside in the rain, or you will quickly have rust popping through!
