Watching all of these videos. I have a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice as well. I had an Alpine installed by an installer here and it works great. Now I know though if a bulb goes out in the climate control that it isn't nearly as bad to deal with that as I first thought. I have the original AM/FM stereo radio if it even needs to go back in. The display though(That one is electronic tune) doesn't always light up. Thank you for sharing this with everybody.

@Mark Schommer: Thanks for the kind words! I liked my old Alpine too. I’m also thinking about replacing the Kenwood - not really happy with it. More videos to come but it will take a few more months. Haven’t had time to work on the car lately.

I'm looking for that exact gm stock radio for my 86 caprice. Do u happen to have one? Part number?

@crusher91crusher: I’m hanging on to my original one in case I ever put it back in the car someday. I just pulled it out and the part number from a sticker on the side of the radio is 16037231. It also says package number 998661. Delco electronics. I have not researched trying to find and original GM Delco stock radio replacement. They have to be out there though either on eBay or from a junkyard. Good luck and post an update if you find one. I’m actually thinking about replacing the radio again, because I’m not happy with the Kenwood from this video.

Hey did you have to cut out a metal rear support bracket for the radio to fit in or does it look like the person before you did. I ask because Crutchfield says thats necessary step even for the radio you installed.

Where is the ground

@iHustle Chicago: The black wire in the back should be the ground in the original car wiring. Orange is 12v hot at all times. Yellow is ignition/ACC. Orange/brown is hot at all times. Hope that helps. Good luck.
