Very, very well done video. Not only is the specific sequence of work shown, but showing how to deal with rusted, uncooperative fasteners is essential to the home mechanic!

Excellent video! My rear trailing arm adjuster bolts are frozen on my 2004 Civic, so the rear wheels can't be aligned. Now I better understand what's involved in repairing.. Thanks!

When you reinstall the new bolts, always use a light coat of grease and you don't have to worry about stuck bolts if you have to loosen them again.

Lol, the first bushing he pressed in after installing the shock absorber he said it felt like it had bottomed out but it was a bushing where he could have kept pushing it through! And you never ever ever grease metal on metal suspension components, only rubber ones unless there polyurethane then you use silicone based grese

Do you have to remove the spindle to replace the bushings on the knuckles?
@jamesguralski51565 жыл бұрын

Where did you order the bushings from I can’t find them the dealer don’t Have them either ??
At 7:18 "The middle piece" Is the one connected to to the upper link or control arm right? If that's correct,My Hondas rear passenger "Middle piece" is broken off and no longer connected to the knuckle spindle but the control arm is okay.Do I have to replace the entire rear knuckle spindle for it to be fix?Thnx for the help.

+enjoi217, I'd have to see the particular damage to give any good advice, but it sounds like the cast iron of the knuckle broke. If that's the case, then you would need a new knuckle. I don't believe I would trust welding cast iron.

+Thadivs Appreciate the help.The knuckle does have to be replace.In labor and part wise it would go for around 150 correct?
@Thadivs8 жыл бұрын
I always buy Honda parts from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com They have the rear knuckle listed for $308. Labor is usually at least as much as the part. I couldn't find the part on autozone.com or advanceautoparts.com If it were my car, I think I would consider buying the part from a junk yard. Much cheaper.
@enjoi2178 жыл бұрын
+Thadivs Yes the junkyard was the least expensive I came up with.The statues of the knuckle was in good shape.The rest of the parts around the knuckle seem same as before nor damage.You think I should look into any part around the knuckle or be worry? Thanks again.

I can't really give any good advice without seeing your particular situation. But I always look around at parts within the area of any repair that I do. It's always best to replace other parts while things are disassembled from the original repair. Since you are working on a knuckle, I would inspect anything that it is connected to. Just try to move anything in a direction that it isn't meant to go in order to see if anything seems loose. Suspension systems need to be rock solid. Replace anything that wiggles or seems loose.

how to remove the adjustment bolt
@Thadivs7 жыл бұрын
It's been a while since I've done it, but I believe there is a nut that holds the bolt together. Just under the nut is a another thing that looks like a nut, but it's the offset cam for the actual adjustment. It should pull straight off the bolt. I made the mistake of trying to rotate it off, thinking it was threaded, and ruined it. It isn't threaded, it's keyed onto the bolt by means of the bolt's shaft being "D" shaped. Once the nut and cam are off, the bolt should pull right out.
