Thanks for the video!!! A few of us at our field have been getting this warning and had no idea there was a separate battery in there to change. Thank you for clearing up the mystery.

Great video as always. Build dates on the circuits of mine are 6 Aug 2020... yeah so def needed to be done. Wish it was a little more accessible but not bad.

Hi Darren. I found the ipex1 connectors to be very delicate. I have replaced a few antennas on my receivers. I experienced a bit of difficulty reconnecting them and making sure they were secure. On my transmitter, I decided to leave this antenna connected. The work around was a bit tricky, but workable.

I guess with the FPV side of the hobby, I’m used to IPEX 1. They’re used on quite a few video transmitters and receivers. They can be a little touchy, but miles easier to work with than IPEX 4, which is tiny. They are a nightmare. I figure that it was safer to purposely remove the antenna than knock it and risk damage. But of course, if people are more comfortable leaving them attached, that is what they should do. Just be careful with it 🙂

@@MrD Would you recommend regluing the IPEX 1 to be on the safe side? What type of glue should one use/where can you buy it in uk? many thanks

I haven’t on mine. Once the case is closed, they won’t move.

I am glad that for the X18 the battery is very accessible. The X10 is the worse, one has to remove the screen to access the battery. The X20 is marginally worse. With all the real estate...

Luckily it doesn’t need changing often.

Excellent as always. On another topic is there a way to have the timers show only minutes and seconds rather than the default hours, minutes and seconds. Sounds simple but I can't find it in the manual. Thanks E

Thanks Eoin. I don’t believe so. I would imagine if there is, it will be in the widget options. But I don’t recall seeing it.

Just got an X20S. My back cover 4 screws are Torx (maybe a recent change)

Thanks for the information. I think this must be recent.

@MrD one week since I have it and spent that week "deep-diving" into it setting-up my Cirrus SR22. Wow! Truly amazing radio, I'm pretty comfortable programming and setting it up now and played with some pretty advanced functions. Did I mention I love this radio?

I have a new x20s. How often do you change this battery?
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, its hard for me to tell, as I use multiple transmitters when flying, plus videos. But I don’t think I charge all that often. What would be handy is an on time between charges stat in the ETHOS info screen. It definitely lasts longer than my X10S Express, which is powered by 2 LiIon cells (over 3000mAh). I would imagine you’d get a couple of full days out of a charge. Sorry I couldn’t be more specific.
@hydrojet7x702 жыл бұрын
@@MrD That sounds good too. I actually meant however, how often to change the little button cell inside the transmitter?
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
Sorry Jonny. On the mobile app its hard to see which video the question is about. The round cell should last for years. There’s no need to replace it until the transmitter tells you to. There was a bug in earlier versions of ETHOS; which made the cell battery discharge at a higher rate. But that was sorted a while ago now.
@hydrojet7x702 жыл бұрын
@@MrD I gotcha. Thanks. That makes sense. I missed the part about the button cell discharging to fast. Thanks

Not sure if it's totally fixed. Just got the RTC low message and I've been well beyond the update that supposedly fixed it since I bought the radio.
@MrD2 жыл бұрын
The update fixed how quickly the battery drained. Before that update it would have drained pretty quickly n

Gotta be careful when removing the back cover. Looks like you almost ripped out the antenna cable on your X20S

Those sliders can be tight. But it was fine. The back has been off before, so I was prepared.

Such a bad engineering from Frsky. Did they suppose nobody would ever replace the RTC battery? And this iPex zntenna connector does no tolerate many re-insertions. After some insertions, they will break or become loose
