Replacing the Throttle Body on my 2008 Saturn Astra

I have a 2009 and I think even the same color as yours. It’s now my daughter’s car and runs like new. It’s got 196,000 kms on it and now am also replacing the throttle body. Thank you for doing this video. It certainly helps to see it done so I know what to expect. Greatly appreciate the time you put into it. My next project on the car is rebuilding the rear calipers They are different for sure and need some reconditioning in a major way They are very expensive even as rebuilds so I’m going to do it myself. That should be fun ;)

In the middle of a drive, had no acceleration although motor was running. Turned off motor, waited a minute, restarted and ran as usual. Could only be scoped properly when the engine light is on. Code said either gas pedal position sensor or throttle body position sensor. Replaced gas pedal ($50 junk yard) did not fix so ordered new throttle body. Came today, will replace tomorrow. Thanks to your video, I now can do it myself and know what to expect.

My Astra was forever throwing throttle position sensor switch errors and I finally got sick of it after the motor would rev at a stop light. Already replaced the throttle pedal so just ordered the replacement throttle body. Stuff gets brittle after 15 years and broke the breather pipe as well. I’ll let ya know how it turns out.

that plastic coolant pipe broke when I wanted to put it back in. I don't understand why they didn't just attach a rubber hose to it instead of that plastic crap with a click system. and watch out when you take out the pvc hose, the o-ring that is stuck inside the hose had fallen out, so I had a huge air leak when everything was put together, i ordered a new pvc hose.

Yeah it's a pain. I'll have the joy of messing with it again--at least on the thermostat housing end, since I have to replace the thermostat housing due to a small crack. Hope to have a video of that, but our weather has not been cooperative.

Hi. According to the Haynes manual for the 2004-2008 Astra, you simply "switch on the ignition for 30 seconds without starting the engine to allow ECU matching." Hope that helps.
