thanks for your videos I have learned a lot and I hope you do a lot more and can't wait to you put out your new videos on your boat and see what outboard you pick. thanks

Hi James, glad you've been learning from the videos. The "new" outboard arrived today but it wasn't quite what I was aiming for. Anyway, all shall be revealed soon! :)

Bedding and flat screen. Nice real estate up under there. I like to fantasize my living quarters up in there too. The Jerk, gas station scene, turned the toilet WC into his home. The good ole days with Green Machine!

excellent start to finish, soup to nuts treatment on the job. pretty much as perfect a solution as you will find, as well. as for that aluminum eye lasting another season, check that bottom front edge from the starboard side again... the crack has already started, lol. so, perfect execution, and absolutely perfect timing. probably saved you from watching her "make a break for the sea"

Yes, I certainly sleep better now it is all fixed up. It would have been depressing to say the least if it had escaped after all this work!

Love the vids mate very helpful, little handy hint for you when you need to cut aluminium wether it be with jigsaw or grinder with cut off wheel or what ever should try using wax on the blade or wheel it really helps with less friction while cutting through the material just a handy hint for you. Great job though mate time to start restoring my tinnie now 😎

Thanks for the tip Jake, I'm going to be cutting that mangle bow off the Green Machine soon so I'll give that a try. :)

Hey, Your videos have been really helpful :) could please do a video on how to modify portable outboard models to add power trim and tilt plus electric ignition and hook it up to a remote and steering ?
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
A conversion would be a good video. I'll have to see if I can find one that needs doing. I've got a video on adding electric start, (kzbin.info/www/bejne/jKWbkoWXosmUmZY) but adding the other things would be great too. I'll add them to the list.

Would adding a 2nd eye on the inside for a 'permanent' attachment of your anchor line be useful? A good solution for this issue, plus the alternative suggestion for keeping dissimilar corrosion at bay. Another good video, I like the style, the 'just get in and do it' attitude and the KISS principles you use.
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
Hey Ron. That's a great suggestion about putting a permanent anchor on the inside. An in the spirit of keeping it simple I'm thinking there is enough thread left on that eye to attach the anchor rode to with a second washer plate. Leave it with me! :)

The Green Machine is looking better and better! Great job and thanks for sharing! Any decision on the engine?
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
Hey Keon, I'm enjoying seeing it slowly come back to life again. There is a bit news on the engine front, but it is not yet confirmed. It's not exactly what I was hoping, but I have a friend whose boat sank in the same storm that damaged the Green Machine and his insurance company has written the motor off due to the cost of labour to repair it. This means that I might be able to get it from them cheap. It won't have the reliability I was hoping for, but it will save me from needing to borrow money which is something I can't really afford at the moment. I'll do a video as soon as I know if it is going to happen.

Is it a 50 4 stroke Stu ?
@keonfrederic18578 жыл бұрын
Stu, With your expertise I'm sure that its gonna work out just fine [ that promises more great videos for us too ;) ]. I just spent a year fixing our 30 year boat and motor and even though it was challenging at times, the satisfaction of the work is the greatest reward and the $ saved are definitely added bonus.

I appreciate your vote of confidence, and yes, it can be very satisfying. It also occurred to me that it would provide more material for videos that a perfectly working new motor! ;)

great video, can sometime make how the cables affect the starting? replacing suggestions etc. th story: my battery is 12.6, starter turns when directly connect to battery, solenoid good. just ignition switch does not do anything. checked the voltage there, seems good. but nothing happens. i was suggested to replace cables.
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
Could be a dodgy ignition switch or start-in-gear protection. Have you watched this video? kzbin.info/www/bejne/m2LLXpWipqmgarc

Do you load yours up a fair bit Stu ? I would have thought a 40 might be enough with alot of those DeHavillands still running around with 25-30 2 strokes hanging off the transom..I have an old Quintrex Fishabout Mk2 that I transferred a 30 Merc (Tohatsu re-badged) as a temporary measure ...I did this after the old 40 Johnson died that came with this cheap rig last year.. I'm talking OLLLLD Johnson It gets along OK but feels under-done with 2-3 on board.... I have been thinking a Yamaha 40 might be more suitable as it's a fairly weighty hull ...admittedly my old girl is only 4.3m long and the Green Machine over 15 foot. Due to budgetary constraints from my better half a new 40 or 50 4 stroke is out of the question...hehe. Thanks to you I am currently performing my own maintenance so 2nd hand (post 2005 say) should do. Nice job on the tow eye mate..can't wait to see the bow roller..Cheers
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
I'm hoping the 40 will be okay. Most of the time it isn't loaded up too much. You can do trips across with five on boat some times (on the way to playing soccer for example), but it just takes a bit longer, no big deal. There are a few boats around here the same size as yours with 25-30HP motors and they also feel a little underpowered to me, but having said that, they still get the job done so it really depends how important it is to you to go quickly. Sometimes if you have a long way to go to your favourite fishing spot it can make a big difference.
@markolav70178 жыл бұрын
Yeah now I have the beast back on the water I'm looking forward to getting back into some freshwater stuff as well as ripping up Cowan Creek for a fish. With the impoundment fishing its a long haul with camping gear etc so the 40 2 stroke is a preference I think the original hull was rated to 50 hp back when HP was measured at the flywheel and not the prop..anyway, hope your reliability is improves whichever way you decide to go..the old Yammie served you well I am sure

Hi Dangar marine, i love your videos you give very good advices i have saved so much money on maintenance on my boat, but now i have a problem, my steering isn't working proprely, when the outboard is all the way trimed down i can turn it very easly the steering is nice, but whem the outboard is trimed up and it doesn't need to be all the way up, i can't trun it, i turn the steering wheel without anyproblems, but i hear the steering box skipping teeths, i have already opened the steering box and i doesn't seem to be worn, What can be causing the problem? Thank you (Sorry for bad english)
@DangarMarine8 жыл бұрын
It does take a bit more fore to turn an outboard that is trimmed up so I can only imagine that your steering must be right on the limit of what it can handle at the moment. Skipping teeth inside the helm takes a lot of force if it is in good condition so it must either be worn or maybe not bolted together tightly enough. Is it reasonably new or getting old? Sometimes it can be hard to see the wear without a new one to compare it to. How big is the outboard motor in HP?
@miguelcgamer8 жыл бұрын
I bought an used boat and this steering was already on it so i think it is old i don't know ho old. My motor is an yamaha 60hp 2 stroke.
@miguelcgamer8 жыл бұрын
I think it maybe not be tightly enough because i opened it once to see if it was worn and i saw that the previous owner had opened it before and it was missing a nut. Thank you so much.

next time get you about 3 to 4 applies dolly to put underneath there so y'all don't scratch your boat are locking the legs on that car left and put some of those thick ratchet straps you have across it then raise it up some then roll it
