Replacing the windows in my Cat D3C dozer

Replacing the old sun damaged plexiglass that were in my dozer doors with new plexiglass that I’m sure will fade out too. 🤦‍♂️

Excellent job. Local kids used our CAT and John Deere loaders for target practice. No one local would come out and make safety glass. Made templates and local Plastics Factory in CT. cut polycarbonate (Lexan). The gaskets are rock hard and it took some effort to get the polycarb installed but a decent temporary fix until the parents pony up for the real repair. The gaskets were self-locking with a piece that folds out to allow easier installation then folds back in to lock the windows in place. New gaskets are available online and probably local car windshield installers might have it. Polycarb and acrylic aren't long lasting due to scratching and yellowing but now you are a pro and can zip them out. Just be careful how you clean them. Plenty of water to get the dirt off instead of using the dirt to scratch the surface.

Thanks! That sucks. I’ve seen that happen before too. Sad. I’ve not had luck getting anyone to come cut safety glass here either. I could take the doors to them but it’s fixed good enough for now. Lol. I’ll look for the new gaskets so when I finally do have to replace them, I’ll be ready. I’ve already got a few scratches from tree limbs but still leaps and bounds better than what I replaced! I’ve learned the hard way with the poly sxs windshields and not rinsing them good enough before cleaning. Glass all the way! Thanks for the comment and good luck with your repairs! 👍🏻

What type of machine do you want to get next skid steer

It’s been on my mind. I can’t decide between a cab tractor that’s a little bigger than my current tractor or a skid steer with heat and ac. Lol. Probably end up with a tracked skid steer at some point. 😎
