4:13 Pro Tip: I recommend tilting the machine back and feeling the bottom rails FIRST before disassembling the top. Some front boxes are screwed to the bottom of the frame. Mine was. You’ll need to tilt the machine back and remove the screws underneath before the front box can slide off. It’s easier to do that before the top is disassembled and flopping around.

This was a very, very helpful video. I got in there, pulled it apart, got a child's sock out and got it back together in no time... I especially appreciate the advice on how to get the body back on. I messed with it for five minutes before coming back and watching the end. Thanks for taking it all the way from start to finish.

tubejim101 As a 55 yr old widow trying to save a repair bill I was determined to do this myself. The new part in Canada was $57.95. I agree the hardest thing about this was putting it back together. I am short so getting everything lined up took some wiggling and jiggling and holding my tongue just right. Your tips on how it was supposed to line up were very helpful and kept me from having to undo and redo it . Thank you for helping me make it on my own one more day at a time.

you will know if the cabinet is lined up if after it is in place and together and you pull from all sides to lean the cabinet and it does not come loose from the base. thanks for the video.

Will the pump cause a no spin effect on the washer? I replaced the coupler and still no spin, or am I looking at a clutch replacement? Someone please help

I need to ask you or anyone, did you have trouble separating the pump from the end of the motor shaft. The old pump in the vid pic looks like it had pry marks. I have one stuck on. The pump leaks, so no issue destroying it. But I don't want to mess up the motor bearing by prying on it. This is an original pump on a kenmore 80. Anyone had this yet? Penetrating oil going to work now.
@tubejim1017 жыл бұрын
It does look like pry marks, but, it is just dirt and grime. Make sure you have those clips off. Mine just popped right off. Maybe shoot it with some WD-40. Wait 15 minutes. Then tape the front with a hammer. Also, could take the hoses and the clips off. Then grab it and wiggle it by yaw. Like you would check a car tire for bad bearings or ball joint.
@thomasdorsch97117 жыл бұрын
This thing had a rust/corrosion weld on the motor shaft. I ended up breaking the pump in pieces to get at the collar on the shaft. I used a small chisel to split the white nylon looking coupling. Penetrating oil did nothing. Never fought this hard on a wash machine. Sort of laughable. Well anyhow, mine was the exception. Good video. I hope others, even if you think you are good at this, should bring their devise and play it as you work. The voice makes you feel as if you're working with someone. lol.

Couldn’t you just tilt the washer up without removing the shell
@tubejim101 Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. If it work, let me know.
@jlamb199 Жыл бұрын
It can be done but it'd be REALLY difficult and not at all pragmatic. Probably not the safest either. (Only one person I saw out of hundreds, commented they'd done it that way, but you'd be working on your back with about 6-10 inches of space to do it.) I just did mine an hour ago. I still gotta put the cabinet back on, but taking it apart was a breeze and I'm a chick. Definitely worth the extra effort, imo.

Great video! Do you happen to know where the lint filter is on this model? Our clothes are coming out with tons of lint on them and I need to clean it. Any help is appreciated!

My washer has only a small amount of water filling the tank....is the repair you show in this video going to fix the problem?
@tubejim1015 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. On many washers, there is some kind of sensor, to tell the water level. I would start with checking the water level sensor.

Does the new pump spin with any more or less resistance? Having trouble determining if mine is going bad. No leaks but its not easy to spin.
@tubejim1012 жыл бұрын
If it is not leaking, I would leave it alone. If it is hard to turn, you might have a sock, or something stuck in it.

Signs that a water pump is going bad? Water leakage or not draining?
@tubejim1014 жыл бұрын
Leaking yes, not draining, most likely something else.

Jim, how come your water pump came off so easy & mine is seized & won't come off no matter how hard I pull. Is it rusted onto the motor shaft?? Thanks.
@tubejim1013 жыл бұрын
Do you have the same machine that is used in the video?
@cohara413 жыл бұрын
@@tubejim101 Yes, it was just rusted on to the motor shaft. Took a long time & muscle but it finally came off. Not easy like the videos. LOL.. Cheers.
@tubejim1013 жыл бұрын
@@cohara41 Was going to say, hit it with some wd40 and wait 15 minutes, but wanted to make sure you had the same one. Some of the appliances have the whole bottom peace as one unit, that you can not service. End up paying lots of money because you can't just swap out the broken part. Glad it all worked out.

@@tubejim101 Yeah Jim!! You are! Because these machines refuse to die!! I watched this about 5 times in two days!!! Just putting the clips on then reinstall the cabinet and all systems GO! How did you know the pump was the issue? I'm to assume that water just won't drain out properly? Thanks for the great information. So simple...
@tubejim1017 жыл бұрын
It was leaving a puddle of water on the floor. Here is a long winded video that shows me figuring it out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bHq8mqVohrWZsJI
@tompritch567 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the followup. I watched the video and that was very helpful. The issue we are having is that the water will not drain out after the rinse. No water leaking on floor. Wonder if it could be the lid switch instead? Is there a way to determine if the water line might be clogged? Thanks again. Sorry to bother you about this.
@tubejim1017 жыл бұрын
If while the machine is working, and you open the lid. If everything stops, your lid switch should be good. Can you tell if your pump is kicking on?
@tompritch567 жыл бұрын
Taking a closer look, what is happening is, first it is not spinning, 2nd, with lid closed it sounds like it is. I'm thinking now that the plastic star shaped piece that is behind motor may be worn and spinning on shaft. I'm going to dismantle and look this evening.Thanks again.
