Smart Easy DIY yes, I saw it later and just ordered it. I opened up my kenmoor but I didn’t see anything obvious. I touched the hose that was connected to back output panel. See the picture here: 1drv.ms/u/s!AqnZganodVqhg7wZRL6wNUaAwUg9XQ I didn’t see any clip there and it was wet. I will replace the pump and see.

My son and I followed your video step by step and encountered the same problem you did with getting the old drain pump off the spindle. The plastic was fused onto the metal with rust and friction. We had to tear and cut the old plastic pump apart and cut and scrape the plastic off the spindle. Took an hour. Then sanded off the spindle with metal sandpaper. Everything else was pretty straightforward. Now the machine is fixed and works beautifully with no leak. We're so grateful to you for posting this video.

I am also a senior lady~~ of 74--I tackled this job and the only difficulty was removing the old pump. After soaking for a day I went back at it. Beat, pried , jiggled and finally off it came!! Whew! Of course the shaft was rusty--so I cleaned it and sanded and added a little petroleum jelly to ease the new one on. I held my breath when turning on the water~~ but so far all is good! Saved me a visit from a repairman. This is an older Kenmore and as long as it keeps going I am happy!!

Hey, so I do have a question. The bottom front is a bit higher than the back so the unit is tilted slightly back. I never noticed it before but its possible it was always like this. I took it apart again and tried to hook the lip underneath the frame in front, but it just wont go together unless I rest it on top of the frame. Does this make any sense?

Thank you friend for the excellent video. Just had a major leak with my Kenmore washer. I'm not as fortunate to have a drain in my upstairs area where my washer/dryer combo is located. These water leaks always ruin my upstairs ceiling whether it be a leaky washer, faulty toilet inlet hose, or a breach in the shower line behind the walls, there is always water damage even possible mold if not corrected. A ball shut-off valve at the side of the house at the main water entrance is always good to have and to use whenever leaving the house for even a day. Thanks again friend.

Nice job, very helpful. One note, when you put the screws/clips back in (last step of assembly, at about 12:30) on the back of the washer, you didn't tuck the metal 'ears' on the inside of the plastic, there's a place to do that, they were outside, so the metal just past the screws bent out when you tightened them. But the video was very helpful, thanks.

The front box may not simply slide off. Mine was screwed to the frame on the bottom rail about 1/4” off the floor. I suggest checking that FIRST before starting to unscrew the top area. Otherwise, you won’t be able to tip the machine back to access those bottom frame screws. 1:25 Why did you take the hinges off to flip the top back? Isn’t that what hinges are for? Then you just had to put them back in (backwards too it seems) and they never served their purpose. 12:30

I don't take the washer apart, I just pull the washer three foot to the front and lie it to the back , put a towel and small bucket , and remove the old pump with a small chanel locks and put the new one, 15 minutes fix. I work in an apts complex, you make a lit bit complicated.

You mentioned you had some issues getting yours off originally, any advice as to how to get it off without hurting the motor?
@SmartEasyDIYer6 жыл бұрын
Yeah mine was really rusted on too. I think mine the plastic had kind of broken around the shaft. So I was able just to kind of cut/pry it off of there. I had to use sandpaper to get the rest sanded off then in order to get my new pump back on.

Smart Easy DIY I will try and break it off then. thanks for the video and your reply.

Thanks so much for helping me, a single mother, avoid incurring unnecessary costs! :) Some repair shops like to send us women down the river with the charges!

On the Series 80 washer, can you lift the top up and off instead of pulling the whole case forward and off?
@chrisokeeffe76244 жыл бұрын
You don't have to disassemble the top. You can access the pump by turning the washer on its back and access the pump from the bottom.

Question: Was yours like a small leak? Mine is pouring out almost as fast as it goes in, and it started doing it suddenly. Suddenly as in the wash before the gushing fine, then run for higher ground!
@SmartEasyDIYer9 жыл бұрын
Wow! Well mine leaked pretty fast too yes. Not as bad as yours I don't think. Sounds like yours might be a hose that broke.

Thanks for this very helpful video! One question: Can it be the water pump if the machine is leaking on fill up?. My machine Has a moderate trickle from the front center right on fill up
@SmartEasyDIYer9 жыл бұрын
You're welcome.. It sounds like it may be a hose or connection somewhere in your case..

Great video!. It helped me take apart my washer to replace the water valves. I have a sears washer and it was very easy to order the exact replacement part from Sears at a reasonable price. Thanks

Thanks. I'm not sure I haven't done one of those, but if I had to guess I would say pretty similar..

I think I have the same problem; I can't seem to get the cabinet lined back up where it belongs; my washer continues to leak even after I've replaced the pump. I'm wondering if it's because it doesn't look exactly lined up. Have you gotten it lined up right by now? How did you do it?

Can those red wires on the motor get wet? My washer was leaking so much water that they gotten wet a little.
@SmartEasyDIYer4 жыл бұрын
I’m guessing they shouldn’t. Probably would hurt to use a hair dryer and dry them out somewhat if you can get to it.
@Kevinwatts03164 жыл бұрын
@@SmartEasyDIYer Ok awesome. Im trying to troubleshoot the leak but i cant find it. I got a GE top load washer and the bottom panel is wet. I turned on the washer and let it run but im not finding the leak. Should i just let the washer run its course all the way through?

Everything went perfectly until it came time to "wiggle" the old pump off. I can't get the darn thing off! Looking around it seems that the pump can become very corroded and stuck, any tips for getting it off in that situation? I see other people removing the motor as well and smashing it off but I'm not quite ready to do that. Thank you so much for the clear, concise video on how to get the machine apart, that part worked like a charm!
@SmartEasyDIYer7 жыл бұрын
+Sarah Parker Thank you glad it was helpful. When was very restaurant to I don't know any tips really maybe you could try where the shaft goes into The pump soaking it with WD-40 then see if you can wiggle it off after a while.

Two questions: Are the leaks usually the pump and not the hoses? You would think that they would go first. Also, the pump I removed did not have an obvious crack. Should it have for that to have been the problem?
@SmartEasyDIYer9 жыл бұрын
I think sometimes the seals can leak a little too but yeah it may just be your hoses. For me it was the pump but the hoses could get cracked or dry rot too probably.
@AlecJNoe7 жыл бұрын
I have the exact same washer and it is also leaking from bottom. I'm wondering, is it definitely the pump? Is there a sure fire way to tell before I buy the pump and replace it?
@SmartEasyDIYer7 жыл бұрын
+Alec Noe If you can block it up and look underneath it while it's pumping it may just be the hose has a leak too.
@tuanngnt6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I have a question. My father Kenmore 80 series washer machine leaking water underneath when water is Medium or High. Is it because of water pump too?
@SmartEasyDIYer6 жыл бұрын
It could be just a loose pipe maybe. It’d be worth tipping back and looking underneath see what you can see.
@joeleahan80632 жыл бұрын
Awesome video. How did you know the pump was leaking?
@SmartEasyDIYer2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. It was dumping water out so I was able to block the front up a little to watch and see where it was coming out.
