**EDIT** It makes the project a little more involved, but I would recommend loosening the mirror to get the weatherstrip fully seated forward. To do so, you need to remove the door panel, which isn't hard but may add a half hour per side. I didn't think to do this until "Airpaycheck" mentioned it in the comments section.
