I worked in a bar in Wellington 2005, the Lions - think it went --- they played our Wgtn Lions, then went down and played Canterbury maybe?, then back to Wgtn for the test, anyway that week or so inbetween, half of the 50 thousand Lions supporters just stayed in Wgtn for that week and waited for the test, they were just awesome people, all of them, they certainly left an impression on us. Our dollar was worth peanuts to them, we had the biggest week in history and it wasn't the same for a while after they all left town. Shout out to the Lions Supporters 2005 - not forgotten 🖤🖤🖤

Kiwi living in Australia. Went over for holiday to visit family and friends at the time of that Lions tour. Second Test unreal. Lions played well for first 10 minutes, but the game goes for 80 minutes! Forwards dominated rest of match giving D Carter the opportunity to play the best game I've seen a 10 play. There has been some great 10s, but I think he's the best. This game showed his complete skill sets. Over shadowed his opposite. Great game.

That NZ team was maybe the best I had seen, special group. It was tough tour as a Lions fan but I get goosebumps every time I rewatch the opening 5 minutes of this Test Match. The Haka, the sheer noise of the Lions fans, the kick off and tempo from Lions in the opening 5 was extraordinary. We then see one of the magical performances of a number 10 in Dan Carter as he takes the series away from the Lions- fabulous stuff.

Maugers kicking in the first half was a masterclass. McCaw got bossed for about 50 mins, but his stamina in the last 49 was incredible. He got is pie when those big Lions forwards were just broken physically. You have to love how many players got tickled up on the wrong side of the ruck too. I’m sure if this was played under today’s rules there were at least 5 red cards.
