Ashton, the best finisher in the Northern Hemisphere if not World Rugby, his tries to game ratio surpass any one else. TopTry Scorer in the Top 14, Top Try Sorer in the ERC, Soon to be Top Try Scorer in the Premiership, no body can touch his stats, should still be playing International Rugby

@davidw.robertson4484 жыл бұрын
O'Connor's poor kicking made the difference. If he had slotted them in the Wallabies would have been in the game all the way, would have been more motivated and would have played much better. England made few mistakes and the crowd was behind them. Two very good teams, one played better on the day.
@Cr4igpeterson4 жыл бұрын
David Robertson you’re spot on, completely different game if OZ made those kicks. 4 pens and a conversion? 14 points at least.
@davidw.robertson4484 жыл бұрын
@@Cr4igpeterson I'm surprised none of the commentators mentioned it. It was so painfully obvious. I assume they didn't want to hurt his feelings, it was only his first cap after all, poor baby. We live in such a feminized age.

First cap? The commentators said he already had 25! It certainly would have been a different last quarter with just a point in it! We really deserved it though I thought, we had so many stand out performers.

In retrospect. The actual quality of this game was quite poor. The handling of england and the tackling ability of Australia was not of an almighty standard. Still test match level, but not warrenting the sudden explosion of hopeful excitement in english rugby that occured after this. So why did that happen? Well because it was after a relative quagmire of success and excitement. No 6N title for 7 years, world cup final but in warrior fashion, not quality fashion. And this game was the anouncement of real talent realising its potential. Youngs, Lawes, ashton, hartley. Suddenly these guys prove they can do it at test level against a really great australia team. These guys had caps already and played well for england before. But they'd finally clicked. I can feel the flame i felt when i saw this live. Some moments never leave you.

The scrums were always so dangerous and you would rarely get one that lasted more than two seconds. I remember playing (about 11 or 12 at the times) after they'd changed the rules and thinking that it was just so much better.
