In the 1970s punk music took over because people were tired of hearing the same mainstream rock structures, vocals, etc, this hasn't happened yet in rap, but its starting. This is where I think we're at in rap. In the 1990s rap replaced rock. A few more mainstream albums of rappers rejecting stereotypes and making whatever the fuck they want like carti did and another genres gonna take over rap. That means we still got like 20 years before raps done . Cartis hella early and people dont give him credit for it

The only problem I have with a statement such as ‘trim the fat’ is that this means different things depending on who’s listening to the album. Some people like the die lit vibe songs on the album so they would ‘trim’ the punk stuff others like the edgy punk vibes so they would trim the Pierre songs. I think Carti did the first half of the album with his new sound to please the people who wanted new stuff and the second half with that more of the die lit sound to please the die lit and self titled fans. This album is definitely Carti’s best work and I think Ye did a good job with the track list 🔥
