Sweet, I was waiting for this. Arthur was always my favourite character, mainly for his overhead slash, the animation still so awesome and when it lands is one of the most satisfying attacks of the history of videogames :D .

His power slash is great indeed, but what really made him special was his Up+Slash move (I don't remember what it's called). It gave him excellent crowd control and stunned opponents most of the time.

Capcom was on top of their game in this era. Heck most of the japanese videogame developers were on fire too.
@Margatroid3 жыл бұрын
@@azmodanpc Capcom was really incredible though. The coherency of the graphics, sound design, and general feel across all their games was fantastic. Like compare this game and Magic Sword, and they both have the same wonderful 90s Capcom fantasy vibe. I love the glittering sound when you pick up treasure, for example. It's so unmistakably Capcom. What game developer has this kind of aesthetic identity now? Konami was totally badass at the time as well though. A McDonalds near where I lived in '92 had this game and the 6-player version of Konami's X-Men, and my friends and I didn't even know which one to play. It was such a great era of gaming. This stuff set my imagination on fire!
@azmodanpc3 жыл бұрын
@@Margatroid Agree completely. The late 80s and 90s were a smorgasbord of great and innovative games from Japan. Massive investments and creativity really pushed the medium (arcades and consoles and even some personal computer games from that era were really groundbreaking). The Lost decades put a damper on the productions of that era and even in Manga and Anime the 2000s - 2010s were underwhelming.
Great! This guy knows this game so thoroughly. I became 100% sure when I saw how his Arthur defeated Muramasa, who used to be my Lancelot’s sworn enemy. I did not like the way his Arthur finished Garibaldy though; it was not graciously knightly. But still this guy and his Arthur are great.

I wish this game had a few more moves to use. Capcom should of made the characters learn new moves by leveling up, it would of made the rpg elements have a rewarding effect on the gameplay instead of just cosmetic changes. Despite that though, the presentation to this game is second to none and the music is fantastically medieval. I always come back to this game once a year or so on my PS2.
@kabutops875 жыл бұрын
@@omegasupreme5527 That's what im saying. It's still a great game but if they added extra moves it would of been a borderline masterpiece.
@GenMaster5 жыл бұрын
They're not just cosmetic changes. Each character has their own strengths and each level up adds to those strengths. Lancelot, for instance becomes insanely fast at max level (16, if memory serves) and while mounted he's almost invincible (thanks to the infinite combo trick).

@@GenMaster Do you notice any difference on Percival and Arthur?
@GenMaster4 жыл бұрын
@@CommanderTato Arthur has the best crowd control move while dismounted, his ⬆️+ 🔴 attack. It does minimal damage, but stuns opponents and can be followed by a combo if blocked. Percival is all about doing the most damage in a single hit (his special attack). He can also run (➡️+ ➡️) , so in some ways he's quite agile too. Overall, however, Percival is the least powerful character, in my opinion. If I were to rank them: 1. Lancelot 2. Arthur 3. Percival

There some secret in third level to get 2 up life and 1 up life or level up staff.. The 2 up life at the first place of the third level by slashing the fruit,but you must have zero life and kill the bird helmet soldier in certain way,note you can change the 2 up life with level up staff by slashing the treasure.. The 1 up life at the next part section of the stage,by slashing silver cup treasure,you must kill the birdman in same certain way before.. Edit : 6:46 just like that

Great Capcom beat em up, blocking adds a layer of depth to this game as playing like a madman won't get you far on one credit in this game. Have it on PS2 via CCC Volume 2, but it was too late to chase the SNES or SFC version down due to price (the latter isn't that horribly priced, but it's not cheap either).

Both are wonderful games, both also require good strategy and practice to beat on a single credit. Both are testaments to how good Capcom used to be. Konami, Namco, Taito, Capcom, and in some ways Irem, all had different points when they were at their best. All had their best period in the 90's, though Namco ruled arcades in the 80's, and first part of the 90's before they started pushing out 3D games, gone were the beautiful sprites that Namco devs would create.
