Thanks for the comments on my post guys.I am from the UK so I accept the Blue Angels are the US Navy display team.Still did not see any sign of a G suit in the video though,the pilot & Stacey were in Flight suits.When I have seen celebrities getting a flight with the Brit RAF Red Arrows Team they fit them up with G suits.When you see US display teams there is more of a snappy performance as they climb into the cockpits.That would be a tricky thing to do if you had a G suit on like the Red Arrows although looks impressive. Takes sometime to get kitted up.

I just hope they lift the restrictions on their maneuvers. I know they cited pilot error as the cause, and I would agree some oversight with regards to pilot health might be a good thing, but this is what these guys give every ounce of their souls for. The right to call themselves a Blue Angel with pride, the ability to go out there and fly so close to the edge, you blink and it's all over. In my eyes putting artificial restrictions on what these pilots want to try diminishes them and every Blue Angel that came before them.

I forget which driver, but they took an Indy Car driver up in one of these. He did OK, but when he got out he was unbelievably excited saying something like "I have NEVER experienced anything like that!" To the pilots, it's like another day at the office at some point I guess. But it took them a lot to get to this level of skill and performance.

She actually did quite well. Most people can’t tolerate as little as four gs. Having a shorter distance between brain and heart helps. It also helps to pull your stomach in as tight as possible too. Great job!

Not many pilots can sustain this kind of g forces and still maintain control of the plane. The Air Force, Navy, and Marines keep the g-ratings of their fighter pilots, so they aren't placed in jets like an F-16 if they can't handle the forces.

maine932: I know the difference between the US fighter jets, and their variants. I said F-16 because it is a modern jet that can subject a pilot to incredible g-forces on a sustained basis. So much so that the USAF started rating their pilots up to around 10g for the crazy maneuvers they might do in a dogfight or to dodge a missile. Most people will pass out way before getting to that point, so they're unlikely to be assigned to that kind of aircraft. USAF, Thunderbirds, F-16. Navy/Marines, Blue Angels, F-18. It would be bad ass of the Army to fly their A-10 jets in formations and do stunts, too.

*****: When it first came out, it was so advanced, and had no peer. Even today, it still can outmaneuver many newer jets that countries like India would rather make (updated) copies of them instead of creating their own version. I remember watching a report about the early plans that had a short stubby joystick at the end of something like an armrest (instead of a center stick) because the designers felt a pilot under huge G loads could not move a joystick very far in any direction in a controlled manner. The host even talked about strain gauges that the test pilots hated. You've got to admit that that's quite advanced for its time.
