All I know isn't very much at all, but about 8 years ago my uncle died in front of the TV watching Fox news. No, of course Fox didn't cause that. But what the entire family commented on was the fact that my uncle had been totally, completely consumed by it. That's all he did. Wake up, watch Fox, and fall asleep later doing the same. Wake up, Fox was still on, repeat. No moving around, no family interaction, just watch Fox news. I've always wondered if psychologists had been hired to make sure the "news" was presented in such a way to cause addiction.

Do a story in this. Fox news is played in the waiting rooms of US military hospitals, and waiting rooms of VA hospitals and clinics. When a soldier pulls CQ or staff duty, Fox news is the only authorized channel to watch. This has been the case since, at least, 1999.

There is veterans org that has just released a video "ad" that describes this stupifyingly dangerous situation! It makes a strong case rhat the universal Fox broadcasts to our service men and women is an utter security and morale buster, and needs to stop immediately. No wonder so many Proud Boys and other, violenve-loving MAGA cultists are former military (or current reservists). I had absolutely no idea that this was happening throughout our armed forces!

Roger Ailes was the person who ran Fox News but he had to leave in 2016. Fox was bad before when Ailes was running it but it got much worse after he left. That's where the loss of control came in. After Ailes they basically gave everything over to Trump. They made him into the far right football team. That's how he is treated by Fox News viewers now. That's why he sells flags and banners and all the other merchandise just like a football team does. And even when he loses, they don't believe it. It's like a fervent fan support for their team. Once they sold Trump to all their viewers they lost control over the message. And when Trump lost and they started to relay that information despite Trump's lies, they got bad ratings from that. Their viewers didn't want to believe Trump lost. They still don't want to believe it. So they were forced put on Trump's team's liars and give Trump the megaphone to lie nonstop on their channel. They could easily be sued by almost all of the people that the Trump team lied about. Right now the GOP is in a huge legal mess as well as a philosophical mess. They created a cult around Trump. A dishonest, treasonous, incompetent obnoxious immoral person. And instead of abandoning him when they should have, they chose not to because it would politically difficult for them. They chose the easy path to follow and now that path has become extremely dangerous. They are all about to fall off the cliff. Starting with Murdoch.
