Destination Adventure

Күн бұрын

If you are touring the West Coast of North America, you will be able to access the coastline almost anywhere, until you hit Canada. There is no coast road in Canada, and there are actually very few roads or towns to even access the ocean. I have always loved the NorthCoast, because if youre willing to drive a little, you can visit and enjoy several of our few coastal towns, each with such different history and views.
Stewart has been a destination for several years now, because it is a town with basically endless adventure, and given the opportunity, of course I will take the back route there. The Cranberry connector is a beautiful little side tour, that takes you through the Nass Valley and right through the Lava Beds. This section alone is worth the extra time, but I am quite sure you will enjoy the full trip.
Coming out onto highway 37, you only have a short drive before turning onto 37A and dropping down into Stewart, but if time allows, a night at Meziadin Lake is very nice. Pushing forwards, km after km you will be greeted by spectacular views, but the highlight for sure will be Bear Glacier. This is, of course, until it has receded out of sight. Each year I visit Stewart, the Bear Glacier climbs a little further up the mountain. This is a sad reality that I will witness throughout my lifetime, but not one that I can change, so lets not dwell on that.
Dropping down into Stewart, BC is always a delight. It is a quaint little mining town, that has seemed to boom and bust a number of times, but never looses its spirit. The locals are friendly, the history is rich, the views are plentiful and the ocean is too. I hope you enjoy this visit with me, and I hope you get to visit one day yourself as well.

Another great episode. Its nice that Emi is getting more comfortable with being on camera. She definitely enhances the adventures. It would be nice if you put labels on some of the spots you highlight. Like such and such glacier or a particular lake or fjord. Gives tourist's and the curious targets to hit if they come here.

The forgotten lands of the North Coast sound like the perfect adventure for anyone looking to escape into nature and take in those incredibel landscapes.
