Repost Network claimed PewDiePie's song?

Repost by Soundcloud has wrongfully claimed and stolen copyright and KZbin Content ID for PewDiePie's song.
Did Repost Network actually intend to misuse the copyright laws and claim his music without his consent and steal all the monetization, or did someone else do it through them? Either way both KZbin and Repost/SoundCloud need to step up their game to prevent this from happening in the future.
Curious to see how this unfolds.

It happens a lot to people who have a music channel and upload music to youtube. They just claim the whole video even when the artist isn't signed to repost. They just claim the video with a song that has many views on soundcloud and gets recognized by the automatic system.

I hate that these pricks are getting away with blatant theft off of someone else's hardwork, really hoping that one day content creators just rise up and drag youtube until they pull their heads out of their asses make some serious changes to protect ppls work. I know its a complicated process but if they can't do that at the very least then youtube is gonna keep going downhill which really sucks cause this is a site that used to be something really special and still is to a lot of people. found this video while doing research about repost network as they claimed content in one of my videos from a couple years ago. I disputed the claim because it's an obvious scam but they rejected the dispute. I'm trying to figure out what to do now because the music I used is copyright free music and these false claims are really pissing me off. anyway I appreciated the video and hope many others find it and realize that they are being scammed so often. people seriously need to do something to get rid of these dishonest pricks! rant over, thanks for the video man:)

@@MasterTracks have you checked the video description lately of the song you used? sometimes they put updates in there letting people know they will get a claim and they give a code to put in with your dispute. then they lift the claim. I have had others just change their mind after 4 years of copyright free to wanting to charge to use their music. that should be against youtube policy in my opinion. if you make it copyright free then everyone who uses it should at least be grandfathered in when they suddently change their mind about it being free.

I have just been watching your Repost videos and reached this one as I am thinking of trying them out. I think the issue here is to properly make your music KZbin safe you may need to either not submit your songs for release on KZbin so it will not be in the database to try and also get royalties for you. The other possible option would be to and for sure the best way is to get your music whitelisted in KZbins database. I think you may also be able to grant permission for others to use your tracks on KZbin but they need to have a licence number or something in the description saying so. KZbin content ID is good for most situations but does not always do what the artist intended.

TuneCore did the same to me, and they explained it's because I chose to monetize in youtube a specific song with them. And they placed a copyright claim in order to be able to colect revenues on my behalf... It sounds awkward anyway. Copyright claim to official artist on behalf of the official artist. )))

Yeah, and since you can't claim Content ID directly through KZbin it's necessary to go through a distributor. The problem arises when someone other than the actual artists uploads the artist's songs (without permission) and claims the Content ID. That is fraud. And there aren't any good systems in place to prevent this.

But content ID really shouldn't be turned on for YT videos anyway because it would literally claim the original video as well. The whole system is kinda fucked because it's so automated. I've had issues with someone taking the name of an artist (e.g. gibi) and saying they were a main artist on some random sounds that gibi had nothing to do with but it automatically puts the album on Gibi's artist page on Spotify and shit so it's stealing free advertising. I even emailed the distributor and they said their user didn't respond to them when questioned so there's nothing they can do. It's all bs.
