Interesting, please explain the reasoning for tying string around the roots. 🤔

I found it interesting as well. The root ball was loosely bound, so my take is that string can't hurt. Perhaps it is a tidy way of repotting without the need to deal with scraggly roots. Some people trim the roots closely; others don't. 🙃

When I repot at a time of year when the roots cannot be pruned, to make them fit in a new pot smaller than the previous one, I learned from a Japanese man to tie the roots gently with cotton string. It's like making a kokedama, but with a vase :-)

I really like your thumbnail m8. Why are you tying up the roots like that 6:00, why not just cut them? edit: And why are you adding moss? Does it contain the moisture better?

HI! I tie up the roots so I don't have to cut them. The more roots there are, the better the plant absorbs nutrients and humidity. Yes, moss helps to retain humidity, especially in such small pots it is very useful, and then I really like moss, don't you think it gives a more natural air to the Bonsai? Thanks for the comment!
