Repotting a root rotted plant + propagating 100 cuttings in water

Hey guys! Today let's do some houseplant chores together! I always love htese chatty plant chore videos & I hope you do too! How to fix a root rotted plant? This is my go to method for handling root rot houseplants because long term, there's not much maintenance the way I clean up & prevent it in this video. So today I will chop & prop my neon pothos so it will grow in much healthier. I took 100+ node cuttings to propagate in water. These water props look so beautiful when displayed, especially in the bathroom for some reason.

It’s so funny I had the same neon pothos growing beautifully but so uniquely and I kept meaning to take a photo to send to you on Instagram when you would post yours because they were thriving at the same time. I did the exact same thing plus I think a bird landed in it because it’s outside, today is the day that I’m going to unplug it and fix my beautiful plant

Just as I was thinking "If I set anything on the edge of the tub it would fall", it did! Love the look on your face lol. Does the original pot have drainage holes? How does the top get light being so close to the ceiling? I just repotted an aglaonema using your methods of using hydrogen peroxide/repotting in chunky soil & it looks like it's doing well thus far. Oh hi Harli, gosh I have a neon Pothos and I propagated some long growing sections and also my marble queen pothos and I am super excited for them to root up then I can make the mother plant fuller or just pot up another one, I have a lot of Pothos and have propagated them all including my cebu blue pothos and I have some of those potted up and doing really good as well as the mother plant. Thanks so much Harli for sharing a great video, I am so excited that I really got to meet you and your mom and hopefully will be able to see you both again at that beautiful nursery again. I’m curious as to the use of sphagnum moss and soil together to propagate the pothos. Wouldn’t the moss hold on to too much moisture when covered with soil? I would just be worried that could lead to more rot. On another note, I absolutely love the neon pothos! So dang pretty! Look forward to seeing yours fill out again. Oh and what do you plan to do with all the cuttings once they root? Omg maybe you can have neon pothos everywhere in the house!

Now a few questions, why not propagate get more established roots then repot? That pot didn’t have a draining hole and isn’t that too much substrate? Just curious as to how you prevent the root rot from occurring again🤷🏽‍♀️

It’s more steps that way & I wanted this to be a one & done kind of thing. My potting mix is really really chunky & airy so I am not super worried about overwatering. Just gotta be a little more mindful than I was last time

Could it be because there isn’t a drainage hole in your planter? Use a diamond drill bit and put one in!

I had the pothos in a nursery pot inside the round planter & the nursery pot had drainage holes. I accidentaly watered this plant like 3 times in one wk 😕

Yes I will, but I’ll probably only change the water once a month, maybe a little less than that
