Thank you for sharing your laid back approach to orchid growing! For too long now, taking care of my orchids has been stressful, because I've been overdoing it with the care. I feel some benign neglect is just what they need. Thank you!!

Thank you very much for your kind words. It's the only way I can manage having so many orchids. There's ups and downs, but overall I'm quite happy with the results. Happy growing and have a wonderful Sunday! :)

🤗 Hi 🐝, What an interesting repot, after 10 years without a repot the media wasn’t too bad and the orchid looked good too. Plus back in the same pot! You have experienced magic hands with plants. 🌸

I find it amazing!!! Although not repotting for so many years the orchid is still plump and growing and blooming!!! It would have died on me long ago, that means you have THE green thumb 💖💖

Hi Fernanda, thank you very much. Most credit belongs to this undemanding, resilient orchid, though. It's a joy having it. :) Happy growing!

Wow what a great job you did with repotting this plant. You have so much patience! It was great to see the update in the same video! I hope everything is well with you! Take care!

Thank you very much, Lucy! :D I must shorten the videos a lot so that you don't fall asleep. It's such a time consuming process. D. Berry is still doing very well so far. We have the wettest summer ever, but apart from that I'm doing fine. I hope, you too. Take care! :)

Hi Bumblebee! Nice to see the repotting process and then a 1-month-later update. I am not aiming at 10 years, but I hope the keikis you kindly offered me from this amazing mama will stay in the pot I gave them in the next 5 years! 😄 They are doing fine and I can already tell how resilient they are!
@bumblebeesorchids34083 жыл бұрын
Hi Jun, thank you! D. Berry is so very resilient, almost indestructible. I really hope you'll enjoy the keikis as much as I enjoy the mother plant. :) I think I must send you a picture of a certain Caladium I have. Have a wonderful Sunday! :)

Wow, this video is so fascinating, for multiple reasons. First, I am stunned that it looks so good and so healthy after staying in the same pot/medium for 10 years, that is amazing. That orchid show medium must have been really special, if it was still maintaining a shape when you squezed it. Secondly, I am intrigued by your plants size. I know yours is Den. Berry, but compared to mine, the Den Berry 'Oda', it looks completely different. Yours has large pbulbs, with a thick base, while the pbulbs on mine are no taller than 15cm and are about as thin as a traditional pencil, with a habit to produce lots of small bulbs in a big clump. As for your question, oh, I think about 4 years was my max.
@bumblebeesorchids34083 жыл бұрын
Hi Rian, thank you! I don't know any special medium, so I guess the medium stayed firm because it dried up on a regular basis. :) I think mine is Dendrobium Berry 'Oda' too, but I don't know for sure, since I didn't check the tag when I got the keiki back then. I think it would be bigger if I had upotted it earlier. Pencil thin - maybe different growing conditions trigger different growth habits? Anyway, happy growing and have a nice Sunday! :)

It worked really well . I definitely over pot my plants, will take my tips from your success.👍

Thank you, Helen! :) It depends on so many factors, perhaps your timing is perfectly fine. Happy growing! :)

Thank you for sharing your repotting video the roots looking healthy and beautiful 🤩 most of my orchids are in the same pot about 4 years I’m too lazy to repot them 😂

Oh my, to be honest for the past year I have been staring at 2 dendrobiums that the roots came so attached to the ceramic pot and I am terrified to even try. You have given me courage to at least try, anyways I always can pulverize the ceramic pot.
@bumblebeesorchids34083 жыл бұрын
Haha, I know how that feels. I have been thinking about repotting these plants for so long before I finally started. Good luck with your stuck-to-the-ceramic-pots-Dendrobiums. :)

Thanks for sharing your repotting! 😊 It's always fun to watch how healthy your plants are! I was wondering, how do you provide air flow for your grow space? :D
@bumblebeesorchids34083 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela, thank you! I open the windows as often as I can, but apart from that I don't take any measures (like holes in the pots, fans) to provide more air flow. Happy growing! :)

Do you think it is okey to add spaghnum moss for dendrobium?
@bumblebeesorchids34082 жыл бұрын
Hi Ray, different Dendrobium species have different needs and every environment is different, too. So Sphagnum might be suited for your Dendrobium, your environment and your watering preferences. I grow mine in pure bark. Happy growing!

Congrats. for resisting the temptation not to repot for a considerable period of time. You could have chopped off a few more roots. You could have selected a some more bigger pot. Actually, I am thinking of a perputual potting now Ibgot a lot of mistakes by repotting too often. Happy Gardening.
@bumblebeesorchids34083 жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) I didn't want to use a bigger pot, but you are right, I should have cut a few more roots. Some of the old ones are branching out, though. Others didn't make it, but it was hard to foresee which would be the ones worth keeping. Happy growing and have a nice Sunday! :)
