Those look like the ideal shape pots for those! B. Ambrosia is on my wish list. My B. fascinator and biflorum are doing well in the seller's medium, the dreaded coco fiber. Killed a B. bataanense once. I hope these work out for you, the blooms are in a class of their own. I may try this!

I sure am hoping they're the perfect shape to let both plants thrive! My semi hydro setup has worked out pretty beautifully for almost every Orchid I've converted, but these are my first bulbos so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Check back in for my July orchid collection update, you'll see how they're doing in a month from now!

It might be best especially with bulbophyllums that a shallow dish is used because the leca beads may not bring enough moisture to the top for the roots to not dry out.

hey baby I just recommended your channel to Danny you know Miss Orchid girl😒 and she didn't answer me back to kindly she just basically told me that she's an old timer and she knows what she's doing oh well her loss my gain. you know everybody can learn from someone else that has blessed acacian then they do and they can especially learn from someone who has more education than they do it's always nice to be accepting of someone else's opinion at least respectful😏😏😶

Miss orchid girl has actually been a huge help in the development of my channel, she linked my work to one of her videos told her viewers to go subscribe! She really is very sweet!

Michael's Orchids that has always been my impression of her. so I don't understand. maybe I just misunderstood. but I am so glad that she's helped you out because he's helped me out as well she was one of the very first people that I started listening to very first when she was using clay pots and had not moved where she lives now. I respect her knowledge greatly!!👵

She knows what she's doing?? LOL! Every video she posts contradicts a video she's made in the past. I used to love her but she's become a real snob and had no clue what she's doing.

Dani has killed many of her orchids, Astrid too. Is that an expert? I can see accidents, okay, I accept that, not mass death.

Hi ! can you do an update on your bulbos in semi hydroponic? are yhey doing well?
@MichaelsOrchids7 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary! I do an update on all of my orchids monthly, and the bulbos will absolutely be included! Yes, they're doing well: the bulbo Ambrosia has put out new growth and tons of new roots. The bulbo Fascinator has been slower to adapt, but hasn't shown any signs of doing poorly

Hi. Is it OK to report a new orchid if it's in full bloom?
@marconikahihikolo29205 жыл бұрын
Does soaking the orchids in Physan20 actually healthy for the plant? Do you have to wash them with water after soaking or spraying? Does this work with bark medium in clay pots? I’m afraid the beak and clay would absorb the physan and overwhelm my plant and kill it. Last question kelpmax is a form of fertilizer?

Hi Michael! How do you choose the right size of the containers and how long do you calculate will take to repotting? Thnx
@MichaelsOrchids7 жыл бұрын
The process of adaptation after repotting can range from 4 months to a year in my experience! And here is a video on selecting the right size container: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4fYn3d3drGYfLc

How long can the adaptation process last? TIA

Do you know the general hardness of your tap water? If it's high, do you plan to flush your systems with soft water or is salt build up on the leca not a concern.
@MichaelsOrchids7 жыл бұрын
You must be clairvoyant, because I'm actually in the process of filming a three part series regarding pH, TBS, and the difference between water types! I will talk through all of that in those upcoming videos, The first one goes up tomorrow morning! 😉

Don't you think that you might be killing off beneficial bacteria too? Most plants would die without their bacteria.
@doggiesarus7 жыл бұрын
Getting to my point-- no offense to you-- orchids might need to be treated more like the "natural fish tanks" where their natural bacteria and colonizing single cell animals actually help them survive and clean their environment. Orchid seeds need to have various inoculation from fungi (mycorrhizae) and also living orchids. By using chemicals to kill all kinds of potential bad bacteria, you may be also killing good bacterias. We are not sure what the appropriate biome is for the orchid. By throwing alcohol, and physan on them, are you really doing them any good? Will it be better if you just let them be? I have only grown them for 5 years, but I grow them "dirty," and I have never had one die from an infestation of anything. Maybe I have been lucky.
@MichaelsOrchids7 жыл бұрын
No offense taken to any of the commentary you have offered! I think you raise a really valid concern, one which has been brought to my attention by many. That is one of the reasons I have been on the hunt for a perfect orchid probiotic; I've read mixed information on precisely which bacteria are beneficial to epiphytes, which makes moving forward difficult. And perhaps you have been lucky, but it's not a risk that I am interested in taking. As I've mentioned in my other videos, I grew up with my mom growing orchids my whole life. For Mother's Day when I was 11, my dad bought my mom a beautiful and very rare plant about a week before we all went on vacation. When we came back (the trip was a week long) her collection was decimated by thrips and aphids which had hatched and in our absence. That sticks with me, so I just want to be careful. Also, because I'm using clear containers, I have to treat proactively for algae before it becomes unmanageable. This is just my approach, certainly not one that everyone has to take. But I've found it useful, when executed properly. Either way, thank you for your feedback and for watching!

So you sterilize them, put them in sterilized containers and medium, and sterilize them again. Wow, that really is OCD. :-D
