Sorry you're under the weather Memo, but great video nevertheless! You look fab in bright yellow. Re your mite question, since the webbing was between petioles I'd say regular house spiders. It's definitely the time of years for baby spiders! I've never seen spider mites do that and flat mites don't make webs. Hope you feel better soon!

Great video. I used my orchids mix and I add some sphagnum moss, and tree ferns for water retention to pot up my aroids. So far, the aroids are happy and giving out lots of roots. I recently started using moss pole; hopefully I will get good results 🙂.

I know how you feel, I feel so much less horrific when I am engaged in some kind of chore over sitting in bed feeling sorry for myself. I think moving around and being upright helps with the sinuses too lol I used to hate spider mites the most, but I recently found dragonfli, and their californicus mites sachets and absolutely full of predator mites. I finally got rid of the mites I had been battling with on my frydek and wentii for 6 months. I have bought mite sachets from other companies but they barely had any live mites in them.

Nice and relaxing vid Memo although you did sound like you were struggling a bit with your cold...I totally empathise cos I've had the flu twice already (as we move in to autumn here) and 2 courses of antibiotics later I'm still struggling to shake it off completely 🥴😩 but a true plant parent's job is never done so we soldier on nonetheless. Love this type of vid cos it motivated me to do some repotting of my own. And yep, I soooo do the same thing when I'm sicky poo, gravitational pull to planty stuff is REALLY strong and I just don't fight it! 😅I also concur about the Phil. Par. Verde....I I've never cared enough about it to own one, esp when it comes to the unstable variegation...no thanks! Hahaha, the recipe comment hahaha my mum always says she does everything 'koutouroú" (not sure if your mum uses this word, but essentially means eyeballing it) so I could never get a written recipe from her or any other Greek for that matter! I use coco chunks and it comes as a block like yours so I hydrate the whole block and keep it in a large container. Coco fibre is VERY good but EXTREMELY messy as I have experienced when mixing it in with my moss poles. So now I just stick to sphag moss for my poles. I have a question, just wanted your mum's opinion on your conservatory? I am so jealous of it that I'm hounding my hubby to enclose our little front courtyard and make it kinda like your conservatory (btw he's seen yours in your vids and he says it's awesome). I hope we can make it happen someday!! As for the larger leaves on a moss pole, it's not Australia per se but certain parts of our Great Southern Land (mainly our east coast) that is more conducive due to the tropical (in the north) and sub tropical (mid/south) like Sydney where I am. Thanks for persevering and I look forward to seeing the progress of all of the repots from today 💪🙂
@Houseplantygoodness5 ай бұрын
Relating hard to your flu battle! Plant parenting stops for nothing. Your courtyard idea sounds amazing-fingers crossed! 🤞💚 and yes my mum always does the koutouroú measurements too, so I completely sympathise. Mum loves the conservatory, but she is always smugly saying I grow those outdoors, no need for a conservatory in Cyprus 😅😅😅

@Houseplantygoodness I'm trying to get it to live outside the tent. Thinking of getting a smaller humidifier just to place it in the plant's surroundings. I have not owned one of these before. One of my many "Plant friends" traded with me for a Bob Cee because I had 3 all in different stages of development. I love the way the Bob Cee develops.

🇦🇺🙋🏻 hi Memo, you know, I don't think anyone would mind you taking a day off when you're ill. I like these kinds of chill and chat segments because we get to see how you do things which helps us do things better/differently. You soil mixing...🤦🏻 I had a huge flash back to my mother teaching me to bake a cake for the first time. I use coir outside with no probs, but indoor not so much and I'm not sure why, but I was watching Hoocho using it for hydroponics, he went into the whole buffering aspect to displace the salts so fertiliser was available to the plants... So I've just tried that but I think I should have let it dry a bit more before potting my plants. Aerial roots and moss poles! I went to great lengths to make sure my moss pole was positioned correctly and my syngonium decided otherwise lol. I did leave you a comment last week, but it disappeared - I don't know what I did wrong but anyway. I like unusual plants, adding to your frizzle plant is the Corkscrew Rush (Juncus effusus cv. Spiralis) which I did have growing near my pond... But it didn't survive my two cattle dogs lol. Also, terrestrial orchids, I've recently discovered native orchids such as the Pterostylis - Greenhoods never knew they existed and I'm completely enthralled! Feel better, chicken soup, fluids and rest.
@Houseplantygoodness5 ай бұрын
Your insights are invaluable as always Chris! Cake-baking and soil-mixing-more in common than we thought! 🍰🌱The adventures of aerial roots and them deciding not to attach is something I can definitely relate too! 😂 those are some amazing suggestion and thanks for taking the time to share them again, not sure why the comment never came through, but defo going on the next video! 🌱💚

First: get well soon. It seems like everyone is suffering right now from colds 💐 Thank you for making this video for us, even though you are not feeling well ❤ Next: I love your sweater ❤ it's such a vibrant colour. And yes, the first thing I do after sufficiently suffering from a cold in bed is get back to plant chores. I don't know, it feels good caring about them. Also: I am the same in soil mixing 😂 exactly like this! "Uuuh, there is charcoal. Oh, over there is some coco chips, these are good. What else do I have on my shelf? Oh, a bit of bark in there, yes." I feel like an alchemist 😂 As for the blocks of coco chunks: I soak them in water for an hour or so. Then you can easily tear them apart. I let the rest I don't need dry and put it in a box for later use.
