the codeacademy git tutorial is excellent. I have also used the git tutorial on try dot github dot io. Software carpentry also has a good tutorial. :)

Thanks for the explanation. When I have Jupyter notebook open, I cannot perform any tasks in the terminal until I have closed that Jupyter notebook. Do you know how I can do so?
