It's UNBELIEVABLE ...Benicio del Toro & Alicia Silverstone togheter again after 26 YEARS. First meeting was in the movie First Kiss ( " Una ragazza sfrenata"for Italy ). They was too young but at the same time ready for being 2 STARS with an easy & deep connection between them on the movie screen. Reptile is a dark thriller where they moves like in a dance for two and also when they no speak they have a deeply communication that we can feel it . A good movie by 2 STARS OF HOLLYWWOOD but if you have time search the movie " First kiss " . Thank's so much Alicia & Benicio from Rome-Italy with LUV.

It felt like this movie's script began its life as a limited series, but somewhere along the line, either the budget was cut or the producers felt it would be more profitable as a movie, so they cut what was filmed around that idea, adding what was necessary to make it somewhat cohesive.

I personally found the tension/mystery in this movie quite engaging and the frequent suspicions really kept me guessing. Del Toro and Silverstone's relationship/chemistry was unique and no small statement. My only qualm with the movie was the outcome of the "whodunit," as it felt a little underwhelming to me. Outside of that I just wish they had shown the actual crime occuring "in the flesh" rather than a mere, obscure flashback great review! 👏🏻

My expectations weren’t high going in, and by the end that feeling didn’t change. The characters fell flat and I didn’t care who made it out by the end. Great, thoughtful review. Agree. It has flaws, and I’d go to a 4 probably, but it is very good. Loved the cast. Must be like 15 people I recognized. But it’s Del Toro that really makes it as good as it is. I suspect she cheated on him previously, which is why he was so jealous. He was the perfect choice for this role. Frances Fisher to me was reprising her role from the Lincoln Lawyer. That is a great thriller. . And actually, Ryan P would’ve been perfect in the Timberlake role, but it would’ve really alerted the reveal 😂. I was drawn in every step of the way. It was also a pleasure not to see tons of gratuitous violence, etc. Definitely well worth watching.

A lot of the reviews of Reptile i've viewed seemed to put the film down, especially when the critics sound as if the movie was meant to be made for "them" instead of you... and me. They would analyze it to pieces. I just enjoyed it for it's own sake, getting lost in their world... I watched it... I didn't think it. In my view, the cast and acting made that unimportant. The actors carry the film and I could watch Del Toro lace a new pair of boots. He is the rare actor that captivates a viewer just by his "presence" to where the cast and sets are lucky to be sharing "his" world... and that world is whatever the movie he's in is about. Plus, as Del Toro ages... he is not just a bottle of fine wine... he is the wine cellar. 😊 I give Reptile 👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

4.5 is nearly a perfect film I guess. While it's well made and I did enjoy it feels like too high of a score. Too many sub plots seem to be dropped way too quickly and are left kind of unresolved. You truly never get the answers as to who was responsible for what in that group of people involved in the crime in question and why its nature was so violent. Felt unnecessary... almost as if it was done just for us the viewers but it never really makes sense in the world of this film. I feel like the movie had a lot more potential and could have been developed and improved upon to make something special. To me it's a 4 max... that's the initial feeling. But the more I think about the film the more flaws I find in its story.

@@beruangbogel3061 well this is new. well I assume you want something in the same realm. There's a bunch I could suggest. South Korea has quite a few good ones: Memories of murder (2003) based on a true story. Chaser (2008) based on a true story I saw the devil (2010) based on a book Australia: The Stranger (2022) This one's a slower film but quite interesting if you like a slow burn. Based on a true story as well. As I've read the actual events made quite a bit of noise in the country at the time. USA: The Little Things (2021) From some Hollywood classics you most likely have seen: Seven (1995) Silence of the Lambs (1991) Zodiac (2007) Hopefully you haven't seen some of these and find some of them interesting.

In his younger days,Benicio always went sooo far from his actual persona,his transformations in Sin City,the usual suspects,the pledge,fear and loathing.....he just completely erased his personality,that was always captivating to watch. This is the first time on screen I see him lean in to his real personality and I love his low key,subtle work here. He says so much with his eyes and body language, Its the confidence of a dude who knows he is a great movie star. I loved this movie,seen it twice and I think it has issues but its odd,creepy and original and a crime thriller with Benicio in the lead will never suck. I agree 4.5 sounds about right. PS. Michael Pitt was brilliant and Karl Glusman as Sam Gifford was sketchy and unsettling,both deserved more screen time,as did Bogosian. Thats my issue with this film,so many good actors and at 2hrs 15 min,they should have been developed more.

The one thing that confuses me the most about the movie that I can't wrap my head around, and it's also some thing that I don't see any videos even mentioning. The actual ending, when Alicia Silverstone's character removes wax from Benicio Del Toro's hand. I understand the symbolism, but I don't understand the context and how it factors into the story. They say every scene in a movie is there for a reason, but I can't reconcile the context of it. I thought at first it had something to do with masking his fingerprints for some act but there was nothing that he did that Would have made it necessary for him to do this, and also, that thickness of wax probably wouldn't have allowed him much mobility, and would've been fairly obvious if it were there during any other scene. Also I considered the injuries to his hand, but I don't know of any therapies that involve wax. Does anybody know definitively why the scene was in the film, or rather what the context is?
@MoviesAndMunchies
@MoviesAndMunchies Жыл бұрын
From a practical standpoint, wax therapy is used for rehabilitation. It radiates heat through the skin and towards the bones. Typically, after removing a hand from wax, it's placed in a wrap and then some sort of insulator, like an oven mitt. I had to do this exact same thing after shattering my wrist. From a story standpoint, it shows the care and concern they still have as a couple, going through the healing process together, whether that be from infidelity in the past, Del Toro's accusations at his former job, or Silverstone's uncle's betrayal. 😊
@SlayingMantis676
@SlayingMantis676 Жыл бұрын
@@MoviesAndMunchies thanks for clarifying that. I don't think I'm the only one that was confused by that ending. And I could be wrong, but wax therapy isn't some thing everyone knows about. It's just another element of the movie that adds to some of its convoluted nature and confusion. At least you were able to clarify it though. All the videos online talking about "ending explained" literally just glaze right over that part

I thought the marketing of this movie was actually very good and true to the film, and I was very satisfied with this movie as a clever slow burn police procedural thriller. It was a very well made movie with great performances all around and a good story full of surprises. A lot of actors of Benicio Del Toro's caliber would be phoning in performances in throwaway B movies at this stage in his career for quick cash, but I never got a "Netflix movie" vibe from this film at any point. His personal care and involvement in the film was apparent. Don't be fooled by the soft Metacritic scores, this is a very good film.

Seven doesn’t really qualify as a murder-“mystery,” despite ticking most of the boxes we look for in a good one, so I’d have to go with Laura, starring Dana Andrews, or Hitchcock’s Suspiscion. I’m not a fan of, “murder as parlour game,” films, even though I enjoyed the Knives Out films and love Margaret Rutherford’s Miss Marple outings, as I prefer films that don’t trivialise the act itself for aesthetic reasons of taste. Probably, at the top of my list is a film that would normally be found in most other collections under the, “Gangster,” or, “Crime,” genre heading, which is The Usual Suspects.

The entire movie is about snakes (reptiles.) Deceptive evil people. There are two groups of snakes. The police and the realtors. Everybody is a snake except the police chief (Allen), Eli, and Sam. Tom and his wife Judy are snakes. The movie is about snake Summer's struggle to leave the nest of vipers and Tom's struggle to remain accepted within the nest of vipers. Summer gets killed for her betrayal and Tom almost gets deleted because even though he's a snake the cop in him (his sin) just won't let the case get swept under the rug. This is the movie just about everybody are blind too and can't see. They only see the murder mystery part. That's why so many are left confused. (The director intended it to be this way)

i love benicio and alicia working together again. but the movie itself was mediocre. this is the director's first time and it shows. it gets a little clunky

Watched last night, a mediocre rip off of "Gone Girl" and "True Detective Season 1". Don't recommend 👎

Convoluted is not a positive attribute. That doesn't mean the story shouldn't be complicated, but this movie was weak. The "convoluted" story and constant red herrings were there to cover up how bad the script was. The dialog had the depth of a high school creative writing class. The first 30 mins of the establishing story felt like someone asked chatgpt to make a murder mystery with as many story clichés as possible. There were some good scenes with interesting shots and high tension, but we're talking 2 or 3 for the entire movie. The best part of the movie were the actors, but there was no salvaging this. I'd like to see Alicia Silverstone in another drama. She seemed like she may still have chops, but it's hard to tell when your acting off of Benicio del Toro.

I was kinda curious about this movie...but with GEN V out, SMUGGLERS and CONCRETE UTOPIA Korean movies floating around....this goes to the back of the watchlist. BTW....where's our HEIST 88 review. Damn, this is a busy week for TV...😂

Having trouble finding eng subs for the Korean movie Smugglers. Any help would be appreciated
@raybop6843

@@garymclure1 the version of Smugglers that's out doesnt have hardcoded subs (usually it's Chinese subs)....so noones been able to rip them and translate them to English. You gotta wait till that first hardcoded sub version comes out. Usually takes about a week after the first vid drops. Then wait a cpl more days to get them ripped and translated.

I really liked your review, thanks! I was looking for a new mystery movie, and you definitely made me want to watch this one, but I'm not into violence at the moment 🥲 So thanks for including a mention for it as well I'll get to it when life gets good again 😊Subbed!
