@@Dehalove From what I've seen of mine, they can be rather quick and squirmy if they're not use to it. So definitely hold with two hands and prepare to do the treadmill with them. Mine's still young so I can't confirm personally, but from my understanding they can get use to it and be pretty handable as adults. Snake Discovery has a group of female garters they keep together. Sometimes they have babies so you can see videos of the different ages in action.

I've always had pet snakes, my favorite snake/the coolest snake I ever owned was a garter snake my dogs almost killed and I nursed back to health. When I lived in Ohio my sister's dogs got ahold of a garter snake and about killed it while I was at school. When I came home my brother in-law told me about it, so I went out and found it to make sure it was alright. Over the next 3 or so months I nursed it back to health, I'm honestly surprised it didn't die during that time. It was so chill and friendly that I would put it in my jackets open breast pocket while I would walk around with my friends, I would even take it to school in that pocket occasionally, it loved going out. It would just hang out and occasionally pop its head out of the pocket to look around. Once it was mostly healed I made the coolest tank ever for it, I used a lot of tree bark, I even made it a burrow in the ground out of bark, that was squirmys favorite spot. I also found a huge bowl shaped rock and used it as a water dish, I always kept a ton of live fish in it, squirmy would sit on the edge of the water and strike at the fish like a cobra. That snake acted like a dog, when I would take it to the park with my friends I would sit it down, it would explore but would always stay close and would come back to me if I left it alone for too long, it acted like it didn't want me to leave it behind. By time he was healed winter rolled around so I couldn't release it and by time spring rolled around it wouldn't survive on its own in the wild anymore. I miss that snake and think about it everyday to this day... To anyone who read my long ass comment, sorry for the novel and thank you for reading it.

@@cheyennekimble7915 they are pretty awesome, I don't know if others act like Squirmy did though. I really think it actually bonded with me when I nursed it back to health even though most people say it's impossible for snakes to bond like that. I'm on a Wickens Wicked Reptiles binge. we have 'cohabitated' our iguana for the past 12 years we've had him. he is currently 4.5 feet from snout to tail. he will free roam indoors with 2 cats. sometimes they lay together and the cats will groom him. in the spring/summer he will go outdoors in a cage with ducks/ducklings. never had issues him. he even has snuggled in bed with the humans! I think a lot has to do with the animal itself and how they are raised/treated, not just the species.

That’s what’s happening where I live in south Texas. Not that long ago green anoles were everywhere, but now you almost never see them, it’s all brown anoles. And we don’t have green anoles up high in the trees because in my area we don’t have tall trees. It’s basically a scrub desert and the major tree is mesquites. Mesquites don’t get very tall and they grow almost parallel to the ground. I’ve seen the brown anoles climb pretty high up the mesquite trees to find food or to get away from predators. I like brown anoles too, they’re pretty cool, but I wish we could have them without losing green anoles. I miss my green color-changing buddies.

I do have an accidental case of cohabitation that has been working really well for almost a year. I had a big tank 120x120x60cm with my crocodile skink. He turned out to be an absolute master of disguise and I managed to not see him for almost half a year after which I was positive that it must have escaped somehow, so after mourning the loss I decided to get green anoles in the enclosure. And a few months later I suddenly see the skink walking around in the terrarium. By this time they had been together for some time already. Initially I wanted to separate the species but after some time I found they actually go quite well together. Anoles are day active, arboreal and hide out on the plant leaves at night while the skink is active at dusk and dawn, terrestrial and to heavy to climb on the leaves. This combined with the size and lush bioactive setup means they can easily avoid each other if they want.

Just add some extra floor space & voilà! Solitary turtle breeding pair as subtenants for peaceful arboreal lizards from similar climate zones (e.g. crested geckos, Madagascar swifts, spiny-tailed iguanas, etc.)!

First time lizard owner. Got a water dragon. When he was 17 inches I got a female. I put her in a cage next to him. When she was happy and eating I connected a tube. They started going through the tube and hanging out. That was fairly simple. And it’s my first time with a lizard or putting them together. I think the only issue would ever be to small enclosure. Give them good space and they get happy fast

Be careful with anoles and long tailed lizards. The anoles may try to eat them. When I worked at a pet shop we were pulling longtails out of anoles mouths nearly daily. Keeping the 2 together wasn't my idea

I personally do not agree with cohabiting solitary species such as leopard geckos, crested geckos, and many tortoises/turtles. I just don’t think it is worth it in the long run, and they are solitary for a reason. I also believe in giving reptiles more than the minimum standards. My female leopard gecko Meara has a 40 gallon enclosure that is bioactive with an Arcadia shadedweller uvb and deep heat projector.

Really cool videos! You can also see am improvement in quality between your newer videos and older ones. A lot of people watch these types of videos for the visual aspect - they (or at least I) are more interested in seeing the animal that you are talking about. You've done a better job incorporating these images and clips into your videos. Before it was a little too much footage of you recording yourself, with images that only showed up on screen for a few seconds. I really enjoy your channel. Voice-overs that cover facts and information as b-roll footage of the subject is actually playing is really enjoyable to watch.... just a suggestion :) Keep up the amazing work

I just got Mourning Geckos! I'm debating whether to cohab them with dart frogs, but right now one is gravid, so I might wait until I see how that goes before I decide. And I grew up with Garter Snakes, just in my yard and such, and kept one as a pet when I was younger, but I didn't know they could be cohabbed! I think I'll get a couple next time I'm looking to get some.

I wanted to add something to the garter snakes. House at least 3 or more. They do better together and they do bond with each other. But so,e garter snakes can just die for no reason, and if u only keep 2, when one dies, it’s buddy can die too. Idk if it’s what u can call a broken heart or loneliness, but it just happens. This way if one dies, the garter snake still has another friend. If u keep a single garter snake by itself, that’s fine. But they are more active and eat better when they r together

A cohabitation idea I recently started puzzling out is a large table of three Indian star tortoises with some kind of a mesh top and sides. On one side of the table I'd create a "mountain" of rocks with a bunch of nooks and crannies, and keep a couple of leopard geckos in it. You have nocturnal vs diurnal activity, an insectivore vs a herbivore, and the geckos will likely stay more in the rocky sections while the tortoises will make more use of the open areas of the table. I haven't finished working out the details yet, but I feel like it would probably work, and I'm confident enough that I'm going to try it out after some more planning and some enclosure design.
