***UPDATE*** my information on my Eastern “Skidboot” was incorrect. He is a pure NSW Eastern.

It's funny for an Australian when you talk about Easterns being "rare". I know where I sit in my office atm there is a wild Eastern hiding in a stormwater drain less than one metre away from me (who I've seen at least three times today). There is also another in the garden about ten metres away. They are seriously everywhere here in Victoria.

lol I was almost scare at the first part of the video, glad it was just a nightmare. As for Sam your ball python I understand why she is your favorite. She has been with you the longest and travel around with you in a way. Ball pythons got me into reptiles and I have only known normals back in the 90s. Ball python morphs has gotten a little out of control with 5 plus genes animal and morphs that look almost identical but isn't (banana/ coral glow). Ninja my colombian tegu would be my top 1, only because she was the first reptile I got when I moved to FL and she was a rescue. I spend a lot of time and money to bring her back. I am happy to announce that I will finally buy a BTS. Got the enclosure just need to set it up. I am looking to get one in February when the orlando repticon opens. Now the problem is I a not sure which species to get. I have been interested in the key islands, but notherns are common in these events. I have 2 months to figure it out.

Tasmania doesn’t (afaik) allow any importation of interstates species of skinks so I believe tas owners are limited to blotchier only, and they are quite strict on it

Hello TC Houston! I have a question about furniture for skinks. Would it be ok if I put a sturdy, good sized, reptile hammock under the heat light that I use? I was just wondering because I don’t know if my Northern BTS would use it or not. I would make sure to not have it so high so that the skink can’t get onto it. Let me know your thoughts on this 👍💫

Hi, If that is something you want to try it’s certainly worth it. Just keep an eye on everything to see if it works well or is a waste.

I didn't even know you had a ball python! That's amazing that you've had her for over 30 years. She looks really healthy and robust! Just curious how feeding goes with her, because I've heard they can be notoriously picky (and like I said, yours looks really healthy). Do you feed live rodents or frozen/thawed? How well does she take her meals? Any tricks you've come up with in caring for her?
@ReptileMountainTV4 жыл бұрын
She used to eat live mice when she was really young bit later would eat a pre-killed rat. She is now perfectly consistent on frozen thawed rats every 3-4 weeks. The key with her is to make sure the rat is warm. 👍🏼😁

Tc please respond! I'm thinking about buying a sexed gidgee skink pair tonight! I really need some input on them. I really like reptiles that I can interact with frequently. Pink tongues and bearded dragons come to mind. Please tell me, how do gidgee skinks do with handling? Can they take down nicely. Please be detailed as information is limited, and I have to make a decision soon!
@ReptileMountainTV4 жыл бұрын
They can be handled yes but they are not keen on it. Mine are fabulous to watch and to hand feed. They even will climb on my hand to take food. Yet, they are not keen on “being held.” They are not bitey but they just are not into being held. Some folks find they are flighty while other say they are out all the time exploring or basking. Mine are out nearly all day basking and climbing. They are super fun to engage with but not hold.

hi i'm new to your channel I have aa couple of questions if you wouldn't mind 1, i'm thinking about getting my first snake but not sure what would be a good starter snake I just know I don't want a boa or a python and I wanted to be about five feet or a bit bigger ? 2, do you know which gets bigger for brooks kingsnake the male or female ?
@ReptileMountainTV4 жыл бұрын
I don’t know 100% on Brooks Kings as I haven’t worked with those specifically however in other kings and milks females do tend to get a tad bigger than males. I personally would recommend either a corn which can get to 5ft or a male Honduran Milksnake which will get to a good size but are known for good temperament.
