My wife and I had a few of these guys, they were great. They're quirky, vocal little fellows. If they thought their misting was late, they would come out and chirp until I sprayed. Also, if you spook one, it'll actually run around the cage screaming! They can also be really sociable. One of our three would climb onto your hand if you offered it.

FYI, just an idea when it comes to decorating… When it comes to the backdrop, if you make the mixture a little more moist than normal, after you press the mixture into the backdrop, you could take the sand mixture you’re using (or any other, in a variety of colors, even blue & yellow to simulate the sky & sun) & press those into the still wet backdrop. As it’s a mixture that has clay, so long as it has enough moisture to still be mailable, anything you press into it should adhere & become a permanent fixture once dried. You could even use little pebbles, colored stones, gems, crystals, etc. to jazz things up. Just thought I would mention that in case you ever wanted to utilize what you already have to make an even more unique backdrop. And remember, anything that can go into (grasses, light branches, stones, sand, etc.) the mixture, supporting its weight (and obviously is animal safe) you can use to give even more depth & creativity to your enclosures. I’m betting the animals would love the visual stimulation, as well. Much love to you, sweetie! *hugs* Shelbie xo 😘🥰

@Reptiliatus2 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Nah, the feeders will really struggle to. Especially if you wet it and hardened it to that clay form. If it’s loose out of the bag, they can dig but if you wet it and it compacts and becomes hard, they really have to dig at it

@Reptiliatus2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your concern! These animals naturally live on sand in the wild, as do bearded dragons and many other arid species. While I agree that sometimes keeping neonates on paper towel, etc while they are more delicate can be a safer option, impactions shouldn’t be a risk so long as animals are healthy, hydrated (big one) and kept at proper temperatures (also very important). 9/10 impactions are caused by calcium sand that animals like leopard geckos eat or because the pet wasn’t being kept properly in other ways. Hope that makes sense! Happy to respond to any further inquiry!

QOTD!! If you were to hand me a back of that substrate, you'd been handing me a solution to a debate I've been having with myself for MONTHS!! I am pretty artsy and creative for the most part, and had been considering making a foam background and using Drylock and painting it to make it LOOK like rock, but I kept hesitating because... well, because it still was not real rock... So then I was considering buying from Universal Rocks, since they use real rock in the outer layer of their products, but they are realistically outside of my budget, and I really wanted to do a CUSTOM background... This solution ticks all the boxes for me!! I'll be using this for a rosy boa build. I even already have stacks of slate lying around. Haha. I would probably do a test run of this first by creating a hide. If that holds up and steady even after a bit of misting, I'll use it for the background!!! Thank you so, so much!!!

Love these guys. Aside from their small size, I love that these guys are communal and don't exhibit the same sort of territorial aggression you can get with larger geckos. I would love to see some long term updates on this as I always wonder how well the clay will hold up. As for what I'd build with the Exo Terra stone desert, I'd probably build something similar to what I have for my Hemidactylus imbricatus, but as with their setup, I would probably still use an epoxy putty to provide the main structure and support with a outer layer of stone desert.

This looks soooo cool! If I had that substrate I'd make a rad enclosure for a rosy boa.❤

Why you use compound uvb light those are useless to small of uvb cone and shallow. Should always use tube uvb.

A bit of a question, one of my Leo’s was attacked by a cat and my roommate and I thought he was dead, we found him a few days later and now he isn’t wanting to eat what do I do?

They are incredible!! Stunning eyes!! So fun! Congratulations Dayyan!! I put a mix with the Outback red into my female beardies enclosure, she loves it! Your build is awesome! Love that layout!! QOTD: my beardies enclosure! She’s got areas to dig, and I’ve built her other enrichment areas with it too! Love that stuff!

These animals like to dig, so it is best to avoid using decorations such as rocks that could fall on a gecko when it tries to burrow.
