I love this truck! It. Is. Awesome. Bad in the day we used to joke that we would never see any Amrep side loader in Republic Services colors and here it is! It's amazing to see and I hope this truck type spreads in the California area so that Republic Services begins to get a little bit of variety in the area. Excellent work!

I really like these new N3 units, 100% don't get bored of watching them, maybe because they're still pretty fresh to me, but they're a general pleasure to watch. Love the quick whip up and down of the chain, keeps the operation looking nice and speedy, then there's that smooth yet reasonably rapid un/dump stage. I haven't exactly driven trucks up there to know what they're like, only going by what I see, it looks like Amrep has a pretty good advantage with this later product of theirs! Gorgeous truck working in what appears to be a very nice neighbourhood - what a perfect match. Indeed this truck does sound very good for a newer vehicle as well, don't mind the notes at all. Looking forward to seeing more of these in various company schemes!

I love how after only one month of the picture of this is posted on Flickr, there is at least 3 guys already videoing this truck. I've been waiting to see an Amrep in Republic colors for a long time, I'm surprised it hasn't happened sooner. This truck looks stunning, really hoping some more will be rolling out of the Amrep facility, rather than the Rapid Rails that are oh so popular with Republic. Glad you were able to film this truck!

+garbageproductions1 Republic has at least one HX450 front loader in their colors in Fresno as well as a couple slightly older HX450s in Arizona and a mini Chevrolet Octo ASL in their colors in Anaheim, but both of those were originally in other colors before. This is the first truck to be built from scratch for Republic though which is nice to finally see them buying locally. Thanks for the comment

Awesome that you were able to get the first video of one of these. First thing, I have to agree with you on is the exhaust - goddamn how I hate those new vent things lol. Second is that I love how the can just sky rockets up with this new N3 design. For some reason, this unit sounds better than most CNGs out there, maybe because it doesn't have one of those ridiculous screaming engines that I have slowly come to dislike more and more. Sad to see that Rainbow is no longer. Nice video!

I have a question. How the heck do those weird vent exhaust things work? Thanks.
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+SoCalGarbageTrucks Many of the new trucks have an ear piercing turbo whistle which is awful. Sometimes accompanied by a loose belt that starts squealing. And no growl or fan noise to cover it up a bit. Thankfully this truck doesn't (yet?) do that. Lets hope never lol And as for Rainbow being gone, if Rainbow was the one to get Republic to buy Amreps and they begin buying them in other locations, then I'd say it was a "good investment" haha take one for the team.

Great video Mike! It is really nice seeing this truck in action, glad you were able to find it. I hope Republic can buy more and hopefully give some to CDS in Gardena,Long Beach, and Sun Valley, Great shots in this video too, such as 6:36, I'm really glad they decided to go with the flappy exhaust because the vent exhaust looks really weird. Nice job!
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+Kanyisa Ahegbebu It's possible other yards may get some, but we'll just have to wait and see. I'm just glad that the old Rainbow yard is buying them for now. Definitely is a nice change of pace for Republic. Always nice to see companies buy locally. Thanks!

Awesome video mike!! I hope republic starts getting amrep trucks now. And only a little bit of HEIL. It's cool that the truck was so fast and used like right after the week the truck came to the yard. Nice video again!!

+L.A TrashProductions We actually realized the photos on Flickr may have been a little older than previously assumed, so they may have had this truck for a while now. Usually takes a few weeks to get trucks registered and prepped for route. Luckily it was running the day I was there! Thanks

Excellent video! So shocked and happy to see a Republic division buying Amrep again. Too bad CDS doesn't buy any ASLs from them anymore. Agree with you on that wired vent thing on the exhaust. Truck sounded nice too!

+TheNVTrashMan With any luck, more local yards will begin buying Amreps in the future since Republic seems to have approved the purchasing of equipment form Amrep again (Republic is really specific on who they let yard buy equipment from)

That exhaust pipe sure looks nice without that huge oversized vent that seems to be on a majority of Autocars. The little flappy lid reminds me of the old L.A sanitation Volvos.
@socalgarbagetrucks8 жыл бұрын
+Stuart Alvarez I heard that its called a "rain cover" exhaust, just so you know the correct term. I used to call it the "flappy thing" myself lol
@TrashBulldogProductions8 жыл бұрын
SoCalGarbageTrucks Oh nice to know. Makes sense on why you would want to keep rain out of the exhaust.
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+Stuart Alvarez I absolutely hate those vent type things on the exhaust. Anything on the top of the pipe other than a flapper (rain cap for the fancy people) looks terrible to me and takes away tremendously from the overall look of the truck. Seems to be the general consensus too. lol

Awesome video! I never knew that Republic Services had Amreps! I really don't like how those windshield wipers are placed on the new Autocars. I don't know why. It just looks kinda weird compared to other truck's wipers. It sounds very nice though!
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+stormchaser316 They have only just begun buying them, this being the first one (and currently the only one) Autocar has changed up quite a few things like the wipers over the recent years. Some things I like, most things I'm undecided on. The wipers being the latter. Thanks for the comment

I 'm wondering if the new N3 arms are made to keep the lids closed on the carts and not destroy them... It seems this truck is not that destructive like the old Amreps, although it still smacks the carts down on the ground a little.
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+stormchaser316 All of the above. You can keep lids shut with the N3 or flip every single one if you want, all up to the driver and timing the arm cycle just right. WMs flips every single lid, but only because the driver wants it to. Over all these are much nicer to carts though. Even when flipping lids you dont get that quick whip which damages lids etc. Much more hauler-friendly product. It does tend to hit carts on the ground a bit but I'm sure that'll be one of the things thats addressed as the N3 grows in popularity.

Always assumed there was some super technical reason why newer trucks didn't/couldn't have a rain cap on the exhaust, absolutely chuffed to see that's not the case. Oh and yay Amrep I guess ;)
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+georgewuzheer I used to think the same when they first came out, but more recently I've noticed that it seems like it's simply an alternative to caps or bends in the pipe. Probably all done in an effort to look fancy and "clean-air-y". Regardless, super stoked this doesn't have that nonsense on it. Upped the cool factor by a solid 53 points.

interesting neighborhood....for a very attractive and special truck to be working in. just curious, how'd you guys find this truck and its route? still real fond of the N3, with its fast raise/lower and more to watch up at the top. given that these aren't in much of a rush to replace the 2nd gen arm, I couldn't be happier; this way, seeing the N3 is still something special every time you do find one.
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+Trashman242 Tristen knew the truck was already on route, but no idea where or how frequently it was used. By chance we saw it drive by at an intersection right ahead of us and it was that simple. Wasnt even 30 minutes after arriving before seeing it. The COE2 was the other truck we were in search of, however it was in the shop this day. I definitely agree. I do enjoy seeing them, though between Waste Resources, CalMet, and the city of Ontario, entire fleets of them are starting to pop up. And I am more than okay with that.
@garbageindustryproductions65368 жыл бұрын
Great video. This is probably the best operating Amrep n3 I have seen smooth, fast, and it does a good job of not flipping lids. I also agree with garbageproductions1 about how cool it is that you guys see something cool and drive like 100 miles to film it, super cool. Definitely cool to see Republic buying Amrep. Too bad they went with the n3 though. Also cool to see the rain cap exhaust. This truck has a surprisingly good sound especially for CNG. Is there any chance to get a cart update from you I haven't seen one from you in a while. Anyways, great job.
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+Garbage industry productions I'd honestly have to say the one Waste Management runs is probably the smoothest operating one I've seen so far. At least in its current state. Just saw it today actually and it was looking better than ever operation wise. Always nice to see the appreciation for how far we go to film stuff haha so thanks. I'm actually glad they went with the N3. They don't flip lids here regardless and these can run at full speed while keeping lids shut with no slamming of the arm. Or in the case of WM, flip every single lid. Not likely you'll see a cart update form me any time soon. I may do one down the road but I have no intentions of doing so in the near future. Thanks for the comment
@WMmaster6268 жыл бұрын
Well that was certainly a quick 8 minutes...fantastic truck and all around, it seems to operate very smoothly. The n3 arm looks a lot faster than on the other trucks you've filmed and actually kept all the lids shut, which was a surprise to me honestly. Operated exactly how I imagine the ideal n3 arm would operate. Exhaust was great too, I loved watching those on the Amreps that came through my house as a kid. For years I've imagined what a new Republic Amrep would look like and I'm quite satisfied with how it looks. Does this truck run regularly? I remember reading on one of Tristen's videos that this truck was might be an extra truck or something like that. Great catch!
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
+WMmaster626 The N3 is cool because you can close every lid or flip every lid by simply timing the dump cycle just right. If you lower the arm while the lid is swinging open, it will flip the lid every time. Bring the arm down when the lid is swinging shut, it will never flip a single lid. Watch closely, he times the cycles the same every time. Always bringing the arm down when the lids are swinging shut, and as a result, not a single lid flips. But if you watch the N3 in El Cajon, he lowers the arm sooner as the lids swinging back open and it flips every time. As far as frequency of use goes, I'm unsure but Tristen did make it sound like it may still be an unassigned help truck for now. Thanks for the comment

Am I mistaken or is that a RHD only cab? Has Republic finally realized that there's no difference driving on either side?
@3amrepmike38 жыл бұрын
I've since learned that this truck was bought by Rainbow Disposal right before Republic Services bought them out, so Republic just had them change the paint scheme to their own rather than cancelling the order. Though Republic was still buying RHD only trucks until about 2 years ago, but that was finally put to an end.. I think that is the stupidest rule ever, likely made by some idiot college graduate who hasn't so much as seen the interior of a truck, let alone driven one.

3amrepmike3 I drive RHD only Peterbilt 320s everyday. I drove for a company that was managed by an x Republic Ops Manager. He made us switch seats and adjust our mirrors to back up and turn left but expected us to do 1200-1500+ stop routes in a timely manner. There's no reason for it.
