Totally laughing at Marie Le Pen and the National Rally, or whatever joke of a name they call themselves...

The voters spoke and voted down the far, far ,far right LaPenn party that lost 100 seats. France, with it overwhelming vote towards democracy won.

The French electoral system uses the tried and tested divide and conquer strategy to divide and weaken French voters as and when required by it's ruling/ political class designers to retain their power and control. Hopefully the French people eventually achieve the necessary cohesion to break free of this contrived ruling/political class entrapment. The same is true (albeit in less complicated forms) In the UK and the U.S.

You should be happy that the left wants to change our voting system and adopt a proportional one then. This said, the RN only lost in places where a majority of voters voted against them, meaning only in places where their only chance of winning would have been to precisely divide the votes of their opponents, the fact that the French voting system is not proportional is the only reason why the RN minority (33% of first intent voters) had any chance to have a majority in first place - in any case they are a defeated minority.

Let me guess. The French people will have broken free of the 'contrived ruling/political class entrapment' when they finally all agree with you.

Theoretically, the president has the power to appoint whomever he wishes to Matignon, the office of the prime minister. However, he cannot override the opinion of the majority of members of the Assemblée, because a government running counter to the chamber's will could be subjected to a motion of no confidence.
@Venezolano4102 ай бұрын
It's not anti democratic since the Republican Front will not vote for the National Rally's choice for Prime Minister. The opposition parties are not obligated to support the National Rally. The National Rally doesn't have an outright majority to elect the Prime Minister.
