Actually, Plave themselves is the one that produced all their music and choreographed their choreography, and yes, they got credited in all of them, so don't worry about how the member feels about them not getting the credit they deserved. And I don't think it's really important whether or not they're using their real name since a lot of producers tend to use pen names anyway And those dance parts are also the members themselves that are dancing using motion capture

I think you misunderstood something Plave members are the same ones who dances and sings so it’s not just animators do the work and five singers behind it the members are doing everything with the mocap suits also they produce the songs too and do the choreography. I understand if it’s not your thing but most people like Plave because of the members funny personality which they usually shows during live streams so it’s not just the good music if you give them a chance and look up their funny compilation videos they are more than just "animation" also you mentioned that you want to see a singer with emotions I know that the mocap is not that realistic but it actually works better than you think we can see the members frowns or smiles even if they put their tongue out we can still see this so basically any thing they do with their face the camera captures that

I'm glad you liked their song but it seems like there's some misconceptions about how plave works. First of all, plave members are real people who produce their own music and choreographies. The people dancing are the same ones singing and rapping so why would they be upset about not getting credit? They utilise mocap tech and unreal engine to do what they do. This means that the 'animations' are generated in real time. They are not animated afterwards so there is no chance of a "badly synced audio to their mouth". If you want an example of animation, look at their mv for the sixth summer. The members spent 5 days filming the mv for way 4 luv. The facial tracking for the members is really good. You can definitely see their emotions as they sing. Why does them being virtual mean that they can be mistreated? As you have already mentioned, there are real people behind them. Real people with real emotions who can read comments dragging them. Why would them being virtual suddenly make them immune to hate? Didn't you mention that you knew there were real people behind them? Why would it not be possible for them to be overworked? They do radios, variety shows, livestreams and even release cover songs. They're still preparing for their next comeback (making the song, choreography, practicing, filming) as well as their next concert. They're not voice actors just saying lines and having animators animate them afterwards. Side note, speculating about their identities could land you in legal trouble. It's ok if virtual idols/vtubers are not your cup of tea, as long as you don't actively spread hate against them. Things like that are never ok. Not saying that that's what you're doing but next time, please ensure you are informed before making statements based on preconceived notions.

About them being immune to hate, I think it's just about their physical appearance. There's no way for anyone to criticise their real bodies/ faces if they use a virtual representation of themselves (pretty neat actually).

I appreciate the response! But I feel like I did know everything you described. I said there were real people behind each member and their performances. It's the schism between watching a real person displaying the emotion on their face as they perform to admittedly not great animation. I cannot feel for these characters in the same way. It reminds me of when people recommended me those first few seasons of RWBY. Could simply not get beyond the lackluster style compared to a traditional anime.

@KpopPrince Reading your reply, it feels as if you had not read my comment. You claim to know everything I've described so what's with the many contradictions? It just comes off slightly arrogant. Yes, you did mention knowing there were real people behind them in the video. The reason I elaborated on how they worked was because of various comments you made throughout the reaction which made me feel like you did not truly understand. Calling them "fake idols" is probably just poor word choice but it still comes off as disrespectful. Implying that it's better to insult them as compared to 'real idols' gives off the impression that you don't think that they would get hurt reading rude comments even though they are just as human as any other idol. Can't you see how this contradicts what you said about knowing there were real people behind them? Even the part where you talked about how being virtual means that they won't be overworked because "you don't have real people to deal with" and "you just have animators doing things". Doesn't your statements contradict what you claimed to have known? You know there are real people so why would there be no "real people to deal with"?. You claimed to have known about their images being generated in real time so why would they not be overworked because they have "animators doing things"?. You talked about not wanting to see "badly synced audio to their mouth" but could you give an example of when this has happened? It just seems like another comment made because of prejudice. Like I said, it's ok if you cannot find it in yourself to connect with virtual idols. Maybe it's not your intention, but you come off very snarky and condescending in the video. Starting off the reaction talking about how you were clowning on them already made me vary. As the video progressed, your comments came across as those of someone who already has a fixed preconception about virtual idols but is unwilling to learn more. However, your attempt to look for the upsides of being a virtual idol made me give you the benefit of the doubt. I get that it's your opinion but plave's animation is objectively good and it's constantly improving. What might have thrown you off is the manwha style. Most vtubers have the anime style that you're probably more familiar with but plave decided to opt for a different style since there were gonna debut as a kpop group.

One thing I think is awesome to think about is the fact groups like PLAVE are a great way for artists to still get to do what they love if they have maybe developed anxiety from performing in front of people, or they just have trouble doing the entire idol life now. It’s a way for them to still achieve their dreams. Plave are HUGE in Korea. They are constantly winning awards. 😱

PLAVE are hardworking and always included in production and even direction. They even have behind the scenes clips of them filming music videos (the merry pllismas video) so it’s not animators that make all their movement. PLAVE have real idols with real talent and a dream. They stream and make content every single week and when a new album drops, they even do behind the scenes of them PRODUCING the song. You can find the Way 4 Luv guide version provided by PLAVE livestream. They also gift us daily covers in their youtube which is also mixed and produced by themselves. all in all, PLAVE is VERY involved. Listen to Virtual Idol by PLAVE for good skin.

Hate to say this but your reaction toward PLAVE is just like someone who already judged and decided not to like them or learn more about the concept behind it. Starting off with ‘I’m trying not to laugh’ and ‘ I’m enjoying the music but it should be separated from who I’m seeing’. Especially when you called them ‘Fake idol’ and ‘not the real artist’, it’s such a disrespect to all the people behind the mo-cap who is real human and have emotion. Ironically enough, you still say ‘I’m willing to open about them’ but still blabbing about how you don’t like the concept and told that you don’t want to see more of them lol. Don’t play the victim and said that you’re gonna get hate for saying these words while you’re already hate the group from the beginning.

@cthyp2t
@cthyp2t 6 ай бұрын
Ahhh, I was looking forward to the DPR IAN reaction! Thank you 🙏 You're right, it's not a concept at all, these are things he deals with himself, and he does self-direct all his stuff. He was diagnosed with Bipolar I Disorder (BPD) when he was in middle school, which is a disorder characterized by "manic episodes that last for at least 7 days or by manic symptoms that are so severe that the person needs immediate medical care. Usually, depressive episodes occur as well, typically lasting at least 2 weeks" (National Institute of Mental Health). Ian refers to these episodes as his highs and lows/downs. Each time he switches, he says he would change completely, as if "his whole entire world has been flipped upside down." If, for example, he starts a project during one of his highs and he starts dipping, he would sometimes have to put it on hold and wait for a whole cycle to work on it again. He's always been open about being diagnosed with BPD, but he has also recently revealed that he's been diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly known as Split/Multiple Personality Disorder) as well. This further establishes that the 'characters' in his music videos are not simply characters based on his own experiences, but actual personalities/alters. When an alter takes over, he would sometimes black out and have chunks of missing memories. Mito is one of his alters who has the role of being the 'protector,' typically created to shield the host---Ian---from memories of past traumatic events. Fun fact: in the 'So Beautiful' MV, you actually see Mito take over. Ian blacked out during filming and even asked the staff when they were going to start filming, only for them to reply that they were already done. They showed him the footage, and he has absolutely no memory of filming them, because it was Mito who was in control at the time. Another fun fact: Skins (demo) is a song made entirely by Mito alone. You can see him on the mv as well. Ian took care not to edit it much, if at all. It's very raw, and honestly heartbreaking. As you've also noticed, a lot of his music are VERY stylistic. Rather than a musician, he says that he's a storyteller first and foremost, so his songs and music videos go hand in hand. According to Ian, music isn't complete if he can't imagine something alongside it. So really, the visuals are PART of his music, as opposed as simply something extra. Another tidbit is that for some of his songs, different alters would work on different parts, thus the disjointedness. Mito likes big, orchestral sounds. Mr. Insanity is fond of EDM. Man, I'm yapping so much, but this really is just the tip of the iceberg. I hope you consider checking out more of his content! This man is truly one of a kind. His interview with Zach Sang is a great introductory must-watch, as well as "Memories In Disorder" | OFFICIAL 'MITO' DOCUMENTARY (13 mins long). Gosh, this is so long, I'm so sorry. But yes, he's amazing, you're amazing, have a wonderful day! 🌻

yeah whether you like a virtual artist or not simply has to do with the type of interests you have or what things you are most familiar with. Or how curious and open to new stuff you are, since many people not being familiar with the concept, ended up interested in them anyway just bc they got carried away by curiosity. Also, how important is appearance/the visual element to you when enjoying music. I understand some people do consider it something extremely important, which is okay ig. But age has nothing to do with it. NOW, in this specific case, it has to do with people mistakenly believing that this project seeks to replace the experience of stanning a traditional idol group, when that was never the case, bc those are literally two very different experiences. Or thinking you have to like their concept or stan them to listen to them, when you can literally just listen to their music if u want to. It's not that serious. The whole concept of stanning is already so weird to me, even being a kpoper, bc people start forgetting it's OPTIONAL. I literally don't have to stan a group or like their concept to listen to their music. That's literally the reason why some people don't want to see Gorillaz as a similar case. Just because I never "stanned" Gorrillaz doesn't mean they don't have a huge fanbase invested in the whole characters' lore. Doesn't mean their concerts weren't initially just screens too; they also started out anonymous, and also have done interviews using mocap technology (awful mocap tho). They are simply different countries, eras, different designs and target audiences, but both virtual anyway. People are so scared with the word Virtual when we're all virtual users lol. Idk, when prejudice is so strong, it's difficult to see things coldly. Even the uncanny valley effect is subjective imo. I would expect that comment about hyper-realistic designs. But the designs were made by a manhwa/webtoon artist (korean comics), made to be less realistic to avoid the uncanny feeling, and look like the drawing of a web comic instead, like the 3D version of a 2D character, which worked well in South Korea, where web comics are the big thing nowadays. I would refrain from talking about their mocap technology without knowing about the subject tho. Unlike the most common use of motion capture in movies or video games, where it's either extremely basic mocap or extremely produced and expensive and then refined in post production, they decided to work with very complex motion capture but in real time, because what the members do the most is communicate through live streams (and now concerts). This is something extremely hard to do well without errors, considering the amount of information they have to capture and simultaneously render for 2 hours non-stop, from their bodies and faces. Therefore, they must use comfortable equipment, but at the same time very complete. And it's extremely well done compared to the less detailed mocap you usually see in real time from most vtubers. May not be that noticeable in MVs, since the movements of the members in mocap are contrasted to the more refined animations of objects and scenes, but once you watch live streams, it's very clear. It's insane how well their movements and expressions are captured in real time. Vlast (literally a startup of like 15 ppl at first) and the members (just a group of friends) began this project with many imperfections, with the idea of improving their tech in +2 years, never imagining that in less than a year the group would achieve ridiculous popularity. Ofc they have room to improve but they're doing more than well. They also weren't going to dance, but one of the members really wanted to and insisted. And let's be real, from their point of view, being able to choreograph and make virtual characters dance is such a fun experience for them. Watching them play with those avatars is one of the reasons why they got so much attention, bc they are hilarious. Anyway, it's 100% okay if you don't like them, as long as you respect their work since these men are extremely involved in their craft, and as crazy as it sounds, very transparent with it (they share a lot of their life and creative process with fans, sometimes they even compose music during live streams). And they don't work less just because of virtuality. Additionally, the artists at Vlast are also incredibly talented. It's a very nice collaboration between music, art and technology for people who are interested in that stuff. And fans really respect the grounded and human approach they have, how it started in such a unusual way and how both parties work hand in hand and help each other grow. Anyway, Thank you for giving their music a chance at least. But idk, if the visual element really distracts you that much when you listen to their music, don't force yourself lol

Plave is a 24/7 mocap (motion capture) user. Yes, if you see them on the screen they're moving in real time. Think about it, isn't animating harder like all the hair movements? The members are already moving and using the mocap devices to track their movement and the hair already move along as well. They even recorded their mv using the mocap. They told us in live it took them 5 dayd to record it. Tune into their live broadcast because honestly people are lacking that on the most part.😊

Plave doesn’t make music as a means or event to maintain their virtual activities. They chose the virtual medium to pursue the music they love. Among the five members, three are composers and two are choreographers, who also gained opportunities through this virtual platform. It's upsetting to hear comments like "their songs are good but they shouldn't dance." Additionally, it is true that Plave's fans in Korea are in their 20s and 30s. This generation, with their economic capability, forms a fanbase with significant purchasing power, drawing considerable attention within South Korea. Their songs are commonly played in cafes, streets, and restaurants, and even men tend to give positive feedback on Plave's music. They are indeed virtual, but this is no different from artists who choose not to reveal their faces. In fact, they have the added advantage of showcasing their movements, making them a new form of artist. Please don’t treat them as if they aren’t real.😥

So who's gonna tell him that the PLAVE members are actually all real idols from 3rd gen? Who are now working as producers for 4th and 5th gen groups? And what are the chances that he has already most likely reacted, and maybe even praised, a song they have produced? I mean, they've worked with some really big names in Kpop, just look at who else are in their song credits and you'll know who they are. Most likely all new idols respect these producers ngl. Anyway, it's fine that they're not your cup of tea, I just find it funny and a tad bit ironic. And to clear your misconception - they are not animated. These are actual humans behind the avatars. They shot their MV wearing their mocap (motion capture) gear. They shot it in 5 days and their tech team post processed it like any other MV out there. Three members, like I said above, are producers, so they produce their own music, while the other 2 choreographed. They were not formed like a typical kpop group. These are long time friends who recruited each other because they know they are skilled. Their company is not an entertainment company but a tech company too. They have full creative control while their company takes care of all the tech side of things. And guess what, they do have the idol visuals :) And they look even better now than when they were actively promoting in their original groups. They aged like fine wine, ngl.

PLAVE: Definitely agree with the animation thing. I fell in love with Plave DESPITE the animation. Im not into vtuber either, but the more I watch Plave, the more that I feel satiated in the fact that DESPITE the anime faces, they show genuineness I have been craving from Kpop idols nowadays (no shades to other idols), in producing their own music, creating their own choreo, and singing live without any backtrack (yes they sing and dance themselves, they dont come from entertainment agency, vlast is a digital agency, so the idol side of the production they have to take care of themselves coz vlast didnt have the resources. they were the ones bringing the resources in regards to musicianship and performaceship to vlast). They show the whole process of producing a song sometimes, editing and making a demo real time in streams, and also show how they create choreography (and also teaching their dance-incompetent members lol). Sometimes when Im watching them I feel like its ironic how these anime faces feels more genuine than some of the real life kpop stuff Ive seen out there. Its ok to not into things, but to belittle them without knowing what is behind the scene and wanting to understand it is unprofessional of you. Your opinion is ok, you cant get behind stuff like animation, thats fair, vtubers bore me too. other than that, to utter things that are not factual and passing it off as "opinions" just because you dont wanna learn about how they work is just lazy research.

@@KpopPrince like I said, its ok if the visual dont appeal to you. vtubers dont appeal to me either. The problem is, you keep on saying in the replies that you understand that there are real person behind each avatar, but in the video you say stuff like "fake idols" and that they cant get overworked coz the animators will just do stuff for them, these statements CONTRADICT your statement saying that you understand whats going on, because in the video you do sound like someone who is ill informed and lazy in research, and in turn spread misinformation to the viewers who dont know better. If you had known better, you could have stopped at "their visuals are unappealing and I cant think of them as real people because it looks too anime" or something, while still acknowedging there are living, breathing people doing the hard work of singing and dancing behind the avatar. Good luck with your other videos and I hope you do justice to other singers that you react to.

Do you think if they ever get ad deals, sponsorships, photoshoots, the tons of other activities that idols involve themselves in outside of the music, that they are mocapping all of that on a soundstage? I highly doubt it. A lot of that work can be outsourced to the prod team and make for a lesser hectic schedule for the artist. They don't have to physically appear for every single assignment. That's what I'm talking about
@KS-uv3rh
@KS-uv3rh 2 ай бұрын
@@KpopPrince you do know that because they are virtual, they have to work differently from normal idols, esp for brand deals right? what they offer is different from normal idols because they know the standards dont work as well for them. They have had sponsorship and endorsements, the biggest one is mediheal mask and they had to make a live stream session for that, which is comparable in effort to photoshoots. they also do a lot of photoshoots themselves in mocap suit because their behind the scene footage is important contents for the brands paying them, coz thats what they are known for. the whole team knows that they cant just approach sponsorship and endorsements like normal idols, and the different approaches is comparable in effort to what normal idols do. and if you are talking abt ad videos, of course they would have to be there in their suits talking and moving as usual because... its a video ad. they had to be there, with their personalities and voices and all. this isnt to belittle the animators behind Plave, they work hard to digitalize things like clothing endorsements and products, some of their photoshoots are also digitalized, but saying they could have outsourced works other idols have to do themselves is, again, lazy research.

I'm a fan of EXO for 10+ yrs and now I also stan Plave. To me, Plave is as real as EXO. Sad to see all their efforts and talents treated as fake. EXO once got laughed at bc of their unique concept- didn't get the respect they deserved (vocal-wise) sometimes bc they looked too good(?) but now they're always called vocal kings. Plave may not show their real faces but being a human/musician isn't just about looks. I don't have religion, but i don't go telling Christians that God is fake. Maybe give some more credit/respect to the fans.

I can’t say this for sure but I think watching more of Plave’s live stuff (not necessarily for a video) may make you feel less weird about the concept and its execution. for a video like this everything is choreographed (meaning member interactions too, not just the dancing) so you don’t get as much personality from the members themselves but I think if you see them in action in real time it may make you rethink your takes on the kind of appeal they have and the quality of their tracking bc honestly their expressions and emotions and stuff are pretty well expressed and not rlly stiff in my opinion (preferences on things like proportions, aesthetic features, and some other things their company is getting better at notwithstanding.) also dancing ability visibly differs in the group! also, I feel reactors and people who seem to just not like/understand this concept tend to have questions about why someone would do this but honestly its a waste of time to speculate and have discussions on why this is or isn’t a valid medium to enjoy idols. Regardless of any benefits and drawbacks or specific private reasons why the the members decided to debut virtually, the thing we can rest on as fans is that the boys themselves LIKE being virtual idols and we like consuming the style of content they produce bc its a fun medium that has a lot of potential. At the end of the day it won’t be everyones taste (potentially the case here) and its okay to just leave the discussion there (even though I also think folks should continue giving them a chance hahaha). Of course, that doesn’t extend to discussing the concept itself, its definitely important to clear up misunderstandings that people have about how they work but trying to defend the virtual medium and justify why Plave chose to debut like this is a waste of time both on the part of fans and people trying (and failing lmao) to get into them.

Don't worry, 90% of Plave's fans started out with: "what is this weeb shit? Is the world trying to trick me?" Then ends up becoming fans LOL (yes, that was me too). Because you can't deny that their music is good, not to mention they produce all their songs +choreography. Aaaand they're really wholesome people when you see their interactions 😀 it does take time to get used to the whole virtual aspect tho Also the only thing their company does is provide the technical part (the animation etc). So in reality; I'd say Plave is actually MORE busy than "normal" idols since they make music + choreograph + live stream 2x a week + other activities.

It's okay to just support Plave as musical artists and not overall entertainers, because I do the same with other artists who I can't really care for outside of their music. So long as you appreciate their efforts and don't undermine them for choosing to take this second chance, it's all good to me. The members have said many times that they're grateful of all this unexpected love and support they're receiving because they knew from the beginning that it won't be everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for trying out their music even though you really can't get into the other parts. If the mocap side psyches you out, you can just react to the music releases or lyric videos and just explain why you won't do MVs or compilations because there will always be people who find it hard to reconcile everything and that's fine. At the end of the day, their tech company lets them control the artist side of Plave and supporting just that part is still supporting the people behind them in some way.

sorry genuine question, can the Plave fans explain something that i've been seeing in the comments? people keep saying they're not animated but i don't understand that.. i know they are real people dancing irl and mapping out the actions for motion capture, but after motion capture is done, the team needs an animator to turn the motion capture footage into what we see in the MV. isn't that animation? yes, they are real idols, real people, dancing irl. but what we see is still objectively an animation right? that is why sometimes it can mess up in livestreams or i think that is what people mean when they say the animation could be better and more seamless. it is not because of the motion capture, it all depends on the style and skill of the animator who then works with the motion capture footage. so yes i don't really understand many of these comments that say its not animated and they're real. both can be true at the same time - they are real and animated through motion capture. being animated is not an insult... that aside, i don't think you guys should spend too much energy interacting with any reactors if they can't get behind the concept. for me personally, i enjoy their music a lot but find it hard so far to 'stan' because i don't have a human face to find a connection with and feel attached to. i just see them as good artists, but i find it easier to stan traditional groups. maybe that will change with time? but yeah with the reactor saying stuff that could be sensitive to you guys ("not real idols", "cannot be overworked") i think you should just not engage or interact

I don't really know how to phrase this, so let me know if you're confused. Plave doesn't have a human animator that turns the motion capture footage into what we see. They utilise unreal engine to generate what we see in real time. For mvs, there is probably someone doing clean ups. When people say they're not animated, they probably meant to say that the members' movements aren't captured, then drawn/animated afterwards. Eg like animation studios taking mocap of someone playing an instrument, then animating while using it as reference. They probably just wanted to say that what we see uses real time mocap tech. They sometimes have errors during livestreams because it is generated in real time and not done afterwards by an animator. However, the tech is constantly improving. Yes, being animated is not an insult. It's just that the word may imply that what they're doing is not in real time. And tbh it's kinda hard to explain, so some people just say that to make it easier. I can see how it would cause some confusion though. Side note, it's totally fine for you to feel that way. It may change with time or maybe it won't. Either way, you seem like a sensible person. I hope I managed to clear it up for you!

@CookedChicken1203 true! I do love that all their live shows are done in real time too, I've watched some of them even before this reaction. I'm thinking for MVs they're probably touched up. What I'm mainly talking about is the disconnect for me that I'm not seeing a real person with skin, and a completely articulated face with expressions. I understand that there are people behind them. That's just where it loses me! I'm happy other people really enjoy them. I feel like I had a pretty good understanding of what this group was, idk what called for all the confusion. By them possibly not being "overworked" I meant that they could literally articulate key art of the models for ads, jackets, ECT ECT. That there is an avenue to create these things without actually needing the artist behind them. Thank you for being kind and even-tempered! 💜

@KpopPrince it's fine if virtual isn't for you. It was your word choice that came off a bit rude, but I see where you're coming from now. Even for ads, the members themselves are still the ones filming. Their company specialises in mocap tech, so it's probably easier to have the members come in to film instead of having the staff move the model. Idek if that's possible. The company emphasises the importance of human connection, so anything involving the virtual persona is filmed by the members. The members basically do everything an average idol does, if not more, since they're entirely self produced. Hope this clears things up. What about your other comments though. What did you mean by them?

@@existentialmuse I recommend you watch the abc news video about virtual idols which they talked about Plave and interviewed Vlast CFO, he explained that the people behind the avatar are the reason for their success and get a glimpse of how it works. Some Pliis have seen the presentation of Vlast CTO explained the tech and how they do it realtime. It's impossible to animate the live stream in real time so the avatar and the real figure kind of the same in shape. the glitch was most due to the equipment fell, stuck and lagging, I think. Whether idols show their real faces or not, in my opinion, how they express themselves, convey their thoughts and emotions that make them real or fake. Plave members throughout 2 years streaming have shown their sincerity, characters, passion with consistency so I feel connect because of their personalities. And have them wearing the mocap for shooting is way more time and work saving since drawing all that graphics isn't easy or quick job, you have to pay more for the 2d 3d artists and that costs more money. That's my thought, correct me if I miss something thanks
