[Request Series] Reacting to Younha- Growth Theory Full Album

Thanks for checking out the album! Loved all the references you made. You're spot on with the album storytelling. Younha said to think of each track like a chapter to a story. I enjoyed the song variety without them feeling too out of place. From the album description: "A story of a journey with a girl, a pufferfish, and a small, old yacht, and a girl's own theory on the meaning of growth realized through interaction with various subjects encountered throughout the journey." The first track is Mangrove Tree. When she went on a trip to stargazing in Australia, she saw the mangrove trees and it became an inspiration for the album. Looks like she needs to release a non-beeping version of Coriolis Force. 🤣 She does layer her voice to harmonize with herself in parts her songs. Her voice sounds full and has a nice resonance too. I prefer the songs with more rock elements in this album, but her voice and technique carries the other songs well. I also didn't expect her finish off the album with a banger. Those drops hit so much harder in the original source. If the Killing Voice showed off more of a balladeer Younha, then this album highlights more of her rock side. Very solid album in my opinion and I love that she takes her time to complete her albums. Full length albums are rare in today's k-pop economy haha. Funny you mentioned Dreamcatcher, JiU, Siyeon and SuA actually covered two of her songs for their special clips. She did do a collab with Wheein, Seulgi and Eunha together covering one of her songs. She also did collab with Minnie and Yuqi covering another song of hers. Check them out if you can. 😊

Haha I guess I could've cheated and looked up the description 😅 LOL yea Coriolis Force would be way more enjoyable for me without that beeping. The song would move up a few spots on my "faves from this album" list without it. I felt weird not explaining what the coriolis force is...I know it's a weather principle but I just couldn't remember what it was specifically. I'm sure no one cares that I didn't know but I like to be able to explain stuff like that for the other people who don't know lol. I agree that the rock sound for her is really good and those songs were my favorite on the album as well.... those and the ones where I could channel my inner Lord of the Dance 😂 What I particularly enjoy is that it's a full album. I don't mean an album with a large quantity of tracks...I mean it's a story. We don't see many albums these days where each song tells the next part of the story. There's some, certainly, but not a ton. Those are some awesome collabs! I'll have to look those up when I get a chance. She's definitely got some songs that would be right at home on a dreamcatcher album for sure. Would be sick to see them do a cover of hers live.
