Hey Smitty, thanks for sharing your knowledge first of all. You have touched on feed in 1 or 2 videos. Can you cover what you feed for, climate, breeding, stock, and flying? Why you feed what you feed? How much and when do you feed? Any supplements or additives to food and water?

Hi Smitty, I just recently acquired my first breeding pair. The breeder I bought them from only gives them chicken lay pellets and said I only have to give them those pellets and nothing else except grit. Will that suffice?; as I am only going to breed pigeons, not fly them myself. Thankyou for your channel, really transparent and informative, totally awesome!!
@therollerpigeonevolutionsm77634 жыл бұрын
Wow you’re breeding them lay Pallets will work just fine. Definitely make sure that they have grit but not for a flying birds just for reading I recommend you use grain if you’re going to fly Birds

quick question, I had two birds that laid 2 eggs I'm not sure how long its been but its been a while maybe about 2-3 weeks they stopped sitting on those eggs and now are sitting on another plate not sure if they are gonna lay more eggs but they aren't showing any concern to there previous eggs I don't want to get rid of them because I'm hoping they hatch but do you think they are any good if the parents stopped sitting on them?
@therollerpigeonevolutionsm77637 жыл бұрын
Fidel Morado good question Fidel pigeon eggs take 18 days to hatch with continued incubation if the pair gets off the eggs for over 3 or 4 days without incubating the eggs they are dead discard them and they will lay again

Smitty it's obvious you've spent thousands of dollars building your lofts. Two questions , how much did it cost to put all that together ,and what do you do outside of raising rollers ? Hope I'm not being too personal, I'm just curious because your set-up is impressive and I've never seen anything like yours.Thanks !

Can I breed rollers from other birds
@dumitrud.30777 жыл бұрын
hey sam, first of all i apologize in advance for my english, i am from Romania and i do my best to speak a good english . i breed high flying english tipplers and galatz rollers which is a national breed of roller pigeons . the loft is in the attic of my house and i have made the way in-out by removing the window and hanging a small cage on the outside of the wall so that the youngsters can see the area a few months before they fly out for the first time and in the same time all of them can have a daily sunbath. my question for you would be what should i do more to help them learning to come back at the loft ? because i am loosing most of them at first flight. also my cocks are sitting on eggs just 3-4 hours a day ( usually 12 pm - 16 pm ) and hens in the rest of the day and all night . is that normal ? thank you man, i like your videos very much , they are usefull for begginers like me.

Is it bad if they drink from the bath salt water?
@therollerpigeonevolutionsm77637 жыл бұрын
Deborah Hernandez thank you Deborah that is an excellent question drinking small amounts of bath salt water will not have no effect on the birds but before you place a pan of water with bath salts in your loft make sure your birds have had all the clean drinking water they need this will avoid any chance of them drinking large amounts of the water with bath salts in it over a long period of drinking water with bath salts in it may do some harm to the birds so it is very important to remove the bath pan from the loft after the birds have cleaned themselves in the water keep in mind that dirty water also has lots of bacteria in it if your birds drink it is a sure fire way for them to get canker and other bacterial infection
