Suddenly, the biblical imagery of Ana holding Rasputin’s dead body in that season, made so much sense. The Gardner, if she does truly exist, inside the Traveler (probably saw every timeline, every action we took in each one. Which is why she’d fled in every one. In this timeline, every action, person, and event, took place for us to have a chance to change our dark Destiny. Rasputin’s sacrifice may have been the final piece that made her stay and fight this time).

Rasputin was built by a man who wanted to become a god, but he became so much more. Because one woman knew that for it to protect humanity, it had to understand what it meant to be human. So she taught it. And so what was supposed to be a monster's apotheosis, became alive. And in becoming alive, Rasputin could choose. And he chose to be a guardian. He chose to protect humanity, even at the cost of his own life. May he rest well, and may we give hell to those who call the Witness master. For Rasputin, humanity's first guardian.

The Traveler did not leave because of Rasputin. Were else would it find a greater Guardian? All that is needed now... is a Little Light.

Part of me hopes he returns to defend us once more. It may take years to bring him back to full power as the Warmind. But, the Light could choose no greater protector. He was a sword and a shield, a tyrant and a guardian.
