I have been sailing for the last 14 years. Passed out from MERI Kolkata in the year 2008. Joined Seaarland Ship Management as an Engine Cadet, over the course I have sailed in the past with British Petroleum and Anglo-Eastern as well.
With the help of YT Channel Merchant Navy Decoded and the website www.merchantnavydecoded.com, we are trying to make this profession more transparent. All our endeavors are towards promoting good shipping companies, good colleges and sharing updated information about the same.
There are so many myths attached to this profession and so many fraudulent activities operational that sometimes even students with good backgrounds land themselves into bad Shipping Companies. Sir, Today While doing DG doctor approval, for admission in The Great Eastern, they saw that my eyesight is 6/6 with glasses & 6/9 with naked eye. Im 24 years old. This is my first try in marchant navy. Except eyesight, all tests report are positive for marchant navy. But the doctors said that i will not selected for eyesight problem.. I have applied there for Gp rating (deck/engine). Last date of medical submission by 13th June, Monday, 2022. My question is 1. Should i send my medical to the institute after listening these suggestions from doctors? 2. If i send medicals & got selected then will they give me permission to do LASIK? 3. Here, sir told that engine cadet eyesight atleast 6/12 in both eyes or 6/9 in better eye & 6/18 in worst eye. Then is there any chance for me in marchant navy ? 4. I have officially showed my Diploma certificate to them. But i did ITI in welder which is for 1 year. Which i told them while on interview . Sir please reply me.. In great tension! .. What should i do now..? I want to do my carrier in marchant navy engineer.. Please sir. Show me right path.. Time is too short..

Sir mere ek aakhe me Left wale eyes me 6/12 hai or Right wale eyes me Ghat ho gaya hai Dr. Ke pass gaya to Dr. Ne bola ke ae gath nahi jaye ga is ka operation ya surgery nahi ho sak ta matlab ke oh gath nagi jaye ge to mai gp rating course kar raha hu 2 month ho gaya hai to kya me as Engine department me ja sakta hu ya nahi sir chasma laga kar Right wale eyes ka number pata nahi chal pa raha hai pilis reply sir 🙏🙏🙏😌 Pura fee bhi bhar diya hu or college non dg hai ager nahi hoga to college wale aadha fee reston kare ge ke nahi sir

Hi, With 6/9 eyesight you are eligible for Engine Side only but sorry to say you are not eligible for Deck side, for deck side eyesight should be 6/6 in both eyes or if one eye is 6/6 then worst eye should be 6/9. Team Merchant Navy Decoded

Hi sir , Jab me 14 saal ka tha tab muze Lasik seregry karni padi thi q ki meri eyes tab bahot week thi or doctor ke salah lekar hi meri seregry Hui thi ,but ab me 17+ saal ka hu but ab muze chashme ki bahut jarurat padati hai ..,to kya me as deck cadet ke liye eligible hu ya nahi . Q ki meri to Lasik seregry Hui he na sirf abhi muze thoda chashme ki jarurat pad rahi he ..!!! ###Hope .....!!! Please sir bata do 🙏🏻🙏🏻
