I meet all of the requirements and strongly feel the Lord leading me to becoming a capuchin. Does being prescribed to medications stop me from becoming a friar? I have been prescribed for years now, due to my mental health. It keeps me very stable and I have been for many years. My day consists of volunteering with the poor, attending mass, and adoration. As well as praying my rosary frequently and reading go scripture. Just curious as to if there is anyone there who also has to take medication

Hello Fr. Curtis. Is there an age cut off point for aspirants? I have noticed that the vast majority of orders will only accept men up to the age of 40. Is this the case with Capuchins?

Look into the Secular Franciscan Order-no age limit, but like any order-it’s a process and you are expected to perpetually commit to the Franciscans order

Could you please explain the meaning of coat of arms OFM capuchin? The coat of arms which has thorns, heart of Jesus with three nails, Angel, hands of Jesus and Francis. I found that picture but don’t know the meaning.

That coat of arms is specifically for the OFM's, not the OFM Capuchin's, so it's specific to their order. I do not know the origin.

In SA, its difficult to find an suitable order without having the funds to visit each order, so one ends up not getting to the religious life and if one lacks favorable knowledge of an order in first visit, thats a kick out of the door unfortunately so maybe another visit the benedictines if i can scape up the money again.

I always ask the Lord if for a sign if he is leading me to the servitude to be a monk and living a monastic life. He always answer yes through my dreams and signs. Can you help me be a monk? Hello! The Capuchins are an order of friars rather than monks, as friars live and work among the poor, while monks live in solitude. If you want to be a friar, got to www.capuchins.org/ and learn more. Otherwise, contact an order of monks like Benedictines. Good luck on your journey.
