I used to work for Wood's Basement Systems outta St Louis, and this video has like "what da heck?!?" But, I saw in a comment this is what the customer wanted, so I guess the customer is always right. I love that cat litter pail sump pit.

You gotta love customers that don't wanna spend enough money to fix the whole problem and usually ends up costing them 5 times more down the road and then try to lay the blame on you when you tell them from the beginning that they just need to do it right the first time. But you done a great job for what you had to work with!

Another good thing to do since you we’re digging by the house anyways would be to find that outside tile and install an outside basket as well. We use 55 gallon drums and modify them to get them up to grade. That way your getting rid of the water before it gets under your slab. Best place for one is in the window well. We have solved many people’s water trouble doing this.

Those walls can be a bear to core through. We do a lot of new construction so have to bore a 5" hole for sewer and usually a 1.5 or 2 for water. Doesn't seem like anyone puts sleeves in for that stuff when they do the foundations anymore.

My son-in-law had a sump pump go out.... flooded his basement.... then the fun began... He borrowed my shop-vac to clean up the water he couldn’t squeegee. Didn’t know you have to empty the dirt and remove the paper filter... Decided to install a backup pump in case the first one went out again. Didn’t install a check
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
William Harris oh man that is not good! Good idea on adding another one. And don’t worry I have done that with the shop vac too
@sassafrasvalley19395 жыл бұрын
... valve. Yep, the basement almost flooded when the pump kicked on. Installed one check valve... worked great until the second pump was turned on. Added a second valve... still didn’t work... so, I got that call to come and look. New valve was upside down... and pumps were set to the same height so both kicked on at the same time... took about 30 minutes to fix... Was worth every second when my 6 year old grandson asked me, “PawPa, how can you fix everything?” Didn’t mind buying the new vac filter! Brandon if you ever need help with sump pumps... call me. I have an impeccable reference!

It looks an awful lot like they tied the sump drain into the septic drain with an upside down Y pipe, am I seeing that right? Surprised they didn't have problems with septic waste back flowing into the sump pump.
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
Sandy that’s exactly what they did. Crazy to me
@pancho200065 жыл бұрын
That black round lid with the 2 pipes coming out is a radon mitigation system there's is another sump pump in there. You should cancel that square sump pump basin follow that line with the Y pipe to the ceiling cut it and get out of the house through the rim joist
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
topcityjose that is a pump to the septic tank I believe. He wanted routed through the basement wall instead of going along with the ceiling
@paulbetka18035 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you go out where the other one went out & or connected it❓😕
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
Paul Betka you don’t want to hook anything else to the perimeter drain for the chance it may not keep and back full with water around the basement and the downspout isn’t as deep as the rest of them. Just better to run separate pipes so you don’t cause another water issue down the road
@67goodoleboy675 жыл бұрын

What size skidsteer (load capacity wise) would be good for someone starting out excavating that will also be used in a farm setting?
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
Josh Jodsaas hmmm that really depends on what type of excavating your planning on doing. I like my size 12,000 lbs cause it’s plenty big to handle any job and has no problem picking up 6000 lbs.

@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
Josh Jodsaas it really just depends on what you want to get into. The 185 will work for moving and spreading dirt and should do fine for moving hay. But if you get into a lot more cutting and grading your probably going to want a bigger track machine
@scottm31305 жыл бұрын
How come you did not just use one drain line and tee the other two into it?
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын

@TheCuttingtorch5 жыл бұрын
Wow.. otherwise theres no sump pit/sump pump? If thats the case then he didnt need one.. im guessing its just the downspout water causing the issue
@eliteearthworksllc5 жыл бұрын
Cuttingtorch I would say the perimeter is still failing due to where and how he said the water was coming in. And yes the downspout was not help matters either
@TheCuttingtorch5 жыл бұрын
I hear ya. Im looking at that electric coming down to those outlets and it looks like just sum wires run down?? WTF But otherwise if you were running a real sump line make sure its run up overhead to the floor joist, and def eliminate that wye you left on the ejector pit. That would make so many plumbers and pipefitters happy.
