Remember, this is a volunteer fire department. Just like most in Germany. Can't thank you enough for what you do. Greeting from a firefighter from Germany.

It gets me how there's ALWAYS someone who thinks the rules don't apply to them or that if they go just a little faster they can "beat" the fire truck/ambulance never once thinking "They could be heading to a loved one of mine"... worse are those who actively PASS the engine/ambulance as though it's presence is an affront to their existence lol.

G'day, Aussie here, thanks for the ride along, was admiring the beautiful scenery along the way. Those trees, I am guessing have turned red/orange for autumn (fall), absolutely stunning. Tried to follow along with Google Maps. Noticed a few things we don't do in Australia, like the 4 way stop, we would normally have a roundabout here. And the cheeky comment at 8:50, love it.

Isn't failing to yield to an emergency vehicle a 1st degree misdemeanor? Should send the plates of those who fail to yield to the local PD. They deserve a hefty fine. It's life or death if these vehicles don't get there as soon as possible.

Emergency vehicles responding in an emergency capacity do not need to stop for stop signs or traffic lights if it is safe to do so. EDIT: for those of you who may think this is false, please see PA general statute Title 75, Chapter 31, Section 3105 title "Drivers of emergency vehicles"
@rogerdehaven5603 Жыл бұрын
That is so false!!! You better look up the law. If you don't stop how the HELL do you know other drivers are giving you the right away that the emergency lights and siren is asking for? The law doesn't work like that Lakes Region Emergency Photography. You will not win in court doing stupid things like not stopping at signs and red traffic lights.
@LakesRegionEmergencyPhoto Жыл бұрын
@@rogerdehaven5603 Gee man, no need to be all aggressive. This video is in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania where Title 75 Chapter 31 Section 3105, Pennsylvania General Statute states: General rule.--The driver of an emergency vehicle, when responding to an emergency call or when in the pursuit of an actual or suspected violator of the law or when responding to but not upon returning from a fire alarm or other emergency call, may exercise the privileges set forth in this section, but subject to the conditions stated in this section. (b) Exercise of special privileges.--The driver of an emergency vehicle may: (1) Park or stand, irrespective of the provisions of this part. *(2) Proceed past a red signal indication or stop sign, but only after slowing down as may be necessary for safe operation, except as provided in subsection (d).* (3) Exceed the maximum speed limits so long as the driver does not endanger life or property, except as provided in subsection (d). (4) Disregard regulations governing direction of movement, overtaking vehicles or turning in specified directions. (c) Audible and visual signals required.--The privileges granted in this section to an emergency vehicle shall apply only when the vehicle is making use of an audible signal and visual signals meeting the requirements and standards set forth in regulations adopted by the department. Now, if you read number two (which is the law in PA...the law you told me to read) it clearly says exactly what I just said. the driver had his emergency signals activated, slowed down, no cars were coming from either direction, so he continued through. I hope you find this information helpful, you should read the law sometime, fascinating stuff.

As a prosecuting attorney in another state I see a wonderful loop hole putting the driver at fault of any accident with number 2 already.

What are fire police
@jack_boswell1233 Жыл бұрын
People who block off a road of a incident or they close it down for a reason. They assist Police & Fire. Best I can describe it.
@josephbennett3482 Жыл бұрын
Fire police are members of a fire department that are also sworn law enforcement officers but instead of wearing a police uniform they wear fire department attire instead and do fire ground protection for personnel working at an incident, they have the authority to make an arrest if needed and they do traffic control and crowd control at accidents and structure fires along with assisting in missing person's searches , but if necessary they perform all the duties of any other firefighter on a scene except for donning an SCBA and going interior for a structure fire.

I've been the asshole who didn't move before, and it's the most embarrassing thing. Music just a touch too loud and the truck behind me was so tall I couldn't see the lights. Once the truck hit his horn I looked out the side and was able to see and GTFO, but man. Part of the issue though was that some of these electronic sirens are just not loud enough, and a lot of modern cars block a lot of sound. That good old Q can still be heard though.

We run calls with 30+ minute run times Even when I was career in a metro of ~1mil we would often run 10-15 minutes as additional in the run stream. Especially with aerials as we were shared between multiple stations.

West Lampeter Township is split up between being our first due, and Lampeter's first due. However, almost every call we are dual dispatched to. This partially being because of a volunteer shortage, we may only get 3 people from each department. The thought is also that if it is a serious call, there's already extra manpower coming and not having to wait til the first company gets there and has to ask for the second to be dispatched
