It’s been 28 years since this accident happened so Michael is 49 now. This took place on a Saturday. When I saw the accident happen, it frightened me. I thought Michael would lose his life. Thank goodness he survived.

What a beautiful family! As a retired medic I can tell you that we don’t hear much of what happens as a patient recovers but I know in my heart that if they have a chance, it’s because of support from all around. Michael must be thriving because of his will and the love around him.

I have been waiting to see this. I have an album on Facebook of inspirational hockey players and I have wanted to include this story. Thank you so much!

I live less than a mile from The Plattsburgh State Field House. I still attend games there as much as I can. That was one scary night for sure. Since then the arena has been completely refurbished, with individual seating and other upgrades.

It’s been 30 years since this happened. Michael is now 51, is married and has children of his own. Ice hockey is a dangerous sport.

I was at the filming of this. Pretty sure it was the year after the accident. Plattsburgh was playing Elmira and the production staff asked if anyone wanted to stay after to play extras. It was a lot of fun

Today’s the 30th anniversary of when this happened so Michael is 51. I’m sure he thanked his rescuers. I’m sure today he’s married with children and told them this story.

They had a really good medical setup at the game, and having the neurological doctor who ended up treating him was at the game was a blessing. He had an angel watching over him. The fact that he couldn't remember the whole incident was a lucky break. It enabled him to go on with his life like nothing happened. I am curious about the player who hit him. It looked like a clean hit, so I hope he is doing alright as well and doesn't feel guilty. 🇨🇦
