They do, and those who mistreat them need a slap. Had words with a nasty piece of work, the other day, a neighbour, because she had turned two nice dogs into vicious animals by locking them into a house, all day, and no walks, unless her father takes them out, and then the entire street hears them, and vicious, not the sort of dogs you would like to be near. She is the type to take animals for show.

@@dougaldouglas8842Damn man, they do not deserve any animal if that is the case. In my opinion there should be much harder punishments for animal abuse. If you ask me, make the punishments the same as if you would have abused a human. And we need a black list of offenders so they never can own a pet ever again, and if they do fine them harshly. Just to bad to see that most animals in this world are shown as objects rather then living and loving creatures. In that regard, humans make me sick.

If I had known their address, I would have paid a visit and taught them a lesson. I see that so many have dogs as a means to attract others to them, and that is all, like a nice new handbag, or smart suite, only after a short time to become discarded. We have a nasty generation of children that like to go by emotions, as much as attention seeking, and animals must suffer them.

Right? I've volunteered at a local rescue and looks are such a big factor in whether a dog gets adopted or put down. Looks, age, and health conditions. It really made me jaded as to how people value non-human lives (and maybe even human ones). Now when I see stories like these, I can't help but think of all the dogs that died because they didn't look good enough. Or how historically dogs were specifically bred to service humans, and that in modern times dogs are facing a non-natural selection that is purely a function of looks.

I've seen many huskies doing things like that. One of the most hilarious such videos I've seen is a husky just hopping over a gate all four legs up at once like it was the most natural thing. Doubt it is a husky exclusive but I don't remember seeing any other breed do it. Must be a thing with smaller breeds being too small for this trick to be of any use and larger breeds being too heavy to comfortably do it. Huskies must be in the "just right" zone with plenty of energy to spare for experimenting with the best ways to jump over stuff.

Our rescue dog did the same leaps. Apparently he was always on a leash or leadAs soon as we put him in our fenced in backyard he "bunny hopped" all over the place. Freedom!

My rescue dog Sam, was that special soul for me. He had this way with people. I took my daughter to the local park, which sits next to a cycle and walking path. A dad came along with his two kids, who were absolutely terrified of dogs. I said I'd put Sam back on his lead and take him further away so the kids could play at the park. Well, within half an hour these two were walking Sam, playing with him, feeding him his treats, and demanding we bring him to their house for a play date 😂 the dad was shocked! But that is the joy of a rescue. I miss Sam every day after losing him in 2019, but love the memories, laughs, smiles and fun we had together.

​@@traceypotter7669 we had a similar story with a Aussie/lab mix that was impossible to ignore at a PetSmart adopt day. was just in store for dog food, left with her who was 5 yrs old, who was soon our best buddy. She passed away right before covid, due to old age (17) + cancer. It hurt to lose her, but saw another older dog at a rescue event and felt my girl saying 'Mom, you need her, she needs you.Help her. 3 years later our new girl, who came out of a hoarder house, runs & plays in the yard like a puppy and loves life as she absolutely RULES our household.

Be patient. I have had my rescue for 7 years and he was very scared, sick and sad. He still has fear aggression with some strangers and kids,(still training and probably always will) but he is my bestie and he has both figuratively and literally saved my life.

They are a constant work in progress, when they have been abused. We rescued a 2yr Maltese x West Highland Terrier. At the vets he was known as “the terrorist”, very hard to handle, it took us a long time to gain his trust, slow and steady wins the race. Had him for 15yrs, he was 17 when he passed away 3 weeks ago. He may have had a rough start, but in his own way, he gave us so much joy. Each little hurdle you jump on the way to healing them, so totally worth it.

He’s a cutie! I just love when dogs get that completely crazed look in their eyes. We rescued a beagle 10 years ago, and it’s the best thing ever for our family. She had never been out of a crate for more than a few hours, and her transformation was remarkable. Tearing through the house when she’s happy, just making us howl with laughter many times a day. Rescuing is very fulfilling, and is the only way we’ll get another dog.

Folks, former rescuer here. Personality plays a part off course, of both human and critter, for a potential bond. However, this level of trust is earned! I commend this gal for treating this pup so well and so patiently working with him. This kind of bond requires effort, but is clearly worth the effort!.

I also adopted an abused dog and it can take years for the poor thing to come out of that misery. His problems effected only him. He never was a problem for me. After I had him for 3 years he started showing more confidence and trust. He turned out to be a wonderful little guy and the wait, for me, was every bit worth it. He is adorable. And the dog in the video proves how rewarding patience and understanding is when adopting such a lovely fellow. The hopping! The hopping! Love it!
