Two small children and a ship's cook survive a shipwreck and find safety on an idyllic tropical island. Soon, however, the cook dies and the young boy and girl are left on their own. Days become years and Emmeline and Richard make a home for themselves surrounded by exotic creatures and nature's beauty. But will they ever see civilization again?

The brigantine is by far the best part of the movie. Beautiful little boat.

The brigantine is the "Golden Plover" she was used in this film and also "Dead Calm" with Nicole Kidman. I was engineer and mate on her from May to October 1988 (after these movies) when she was back in Airlie Beach (where the Jacoby brothers had rebuilt her).

In the sequel you find out the parents did die but the baby survived
