Knowing it is the best thing you can do for dogs in a thunderstorm, I always took my dogs out on a walk as soon as I saw lightning. Outside my Wolfdog was not scared! Indoors she was always hiding. Preferably under my desk by my feet 😂 Little miss Red is home... and home is where the heart is 🙂 A small mountain of donated food parcels, great!! Hope all is well after the blackout. Michigan folks used to deal with power outages year round: ice on power lines, Transfer stations in the winter along with thousands of trees that would explode like canons going off. In the spring, summer, and early September it would be straight line winds, extreme thunderstorms and huge tornadoes, day or night. I spent many a night in the basement as a child because there was no early warning tornado system like we have now. Just my fathers farmer instinct, the color of the sky, and the weather station my father made. When I was a girl about Elle’s age We had a wood burning home furnace set up and a small pot belly stove that we could cook on if we needed it. Often I was out in the January freeze with my little hatchet hacking off little branches abd such as my father trimmed the trees on his loggers equipment. He built skyscraper elevators during the day so, he had no fear of extreme heights. Usually we kept 4-5 cords of wood in preparation stages. I learned around 10-12 years of age to use a baseball bat to whack the logs, and disturb and snakes, large spiders, etc before gathering wood or splitting it for kindle. Due to the iron ore in the ground, and a heck of a lot of water as land mass, Michigan gets thousands of lightning strikes per storm. Generally there is some form of tree or building damage somewhere.

Wow, even through a power outage, DDCF life goes on and training continues. Your help to manage the anxiety pups may feel during thunder & storms, which is something everyone can utilize with their own pups. Good thing the indoor puppy playground is finished enough so they can all stay inside nice & dry, play and crash, & sleep wherever they bundle up with other puppies!!! Wolfie's smile is so contagious....happy to be with his Daddy! Ash; puppy bathing is a huge job, as there are so many of them......but they behave so well for you. Your puppy lead training is awesome (PS: love your braids)! Luke is so excited about going to pick up Ms. Red; & she showed him she missed him! She is so cute sleeping next to Evie on the couch. Evie just melts your heart when she says, "I wish I could keep her!" Such loving girls you have. Elle looked fantastic in her outfit and so excited for her Birthday...she's such an incredible girl! Rodney is fixing the bus and had a great covering so as not to get wet while doing repairs. So many generous donations from around the globe.......such goodness from so many for the pups! Thank you Sam and Luke for the great videos! Your days and work never stops; but you keep on smiling and carry on, making such a difference for all the pups, puppies, and all of your fans!!!

Miss Red looks tired, but glad to be back at the farm. Reiki sent for her ongoing health issues. Elle looks great and sounds excited about her bday tomorrow. Well done trooping on despite the outage, Luke and Sam and team. That grill can make a big difference with the hot water. Solar panels, a household backup generator and off-grid battery-operated LED lights and appliances might be cool to include in your plans. Thank goodness for Rodney's skills, saving money and garage time by installing the bus part himself at the farm. He's a prize gem! Glad you have a faithful team to keep all the needful things getting done, so you could pickup Miss Red and Aunty Elle. Love how Miss Big Sister Again jumped right into the back seat and said, "Dad, you're filming." And Evie observing an orange insect while looking in on the puppies' naptime. Those observation skills will serve them very well in life. Be sure to play "I Spy" with them and get the book collection for off-grid times w a headlamp or flashlight. They're fun for all ages and my students thoroughly enjoyed them. Blessed be.
