From John Bunyan's book Pilgrim's Progress "Christian: Well, I think it is like this: First they withdraw their thoughts as much as possible from the remembrance of God, death, and judgment to come. Lord, I pray, may we never take our sin lightly. May we never use grace to justify our sin. Holy Spirit, show us how much our sin grieves You, so that we may never judge others. And may we understand the depth of how much our sin grieves You, so that we may not take sin lightly. Holy Sprit, I know, I struggle with sin. I know life in this earth is an endless cycle of guilt and shame. But in You, there is freedom to be who I want to be. I want to be like one of Your people in Your heavenly city. I want to be a sinner saved by grace. I don't want to be sinner that uses grace to justify my sin so that I no longer have to open my eyes to the evil consequences of my sin and then continue in it. Open my eyes, therefore, Holy Spirit. Show me my need. I am lost, in need of a Savior. I can do nothing to contribute to my salvation because I am not able to. And God doesn't except me to. He knows that I am in an endless cycle of guilt and shame. And the only way for me to escape is through His Son's death on thr cross. Jesus did it all for me, Father. Jesus paid the full price for my soul and purchased me at an extremely high cost. My sin incurred an amount that no amount of money could redeem. No, not even all the riches in this world or in all the universe. Jesus did it all. All to Him I owe. Holy Spirit, please let me accept what Jesus did for me as the once and for all payment so that He purchased me as His own for all of eternity. I accept it, by Your grace Holy Spirit. Now, let me, if You are willing, Holy Spirit, to trust in Jesus as my Savior? And apply His blood to my heart? So that I can truly be the real deal in the sight of God the Father? I, by Your grace, trust in Jesus as my Ssvior. And now, Holy Spirit, please let me listen to what Jesus said and understand it by the new heart You have given to me because You let me trust in Jesus as my Savior and through that trust applied His blood to my heart? Jesus said, it is finished. Thus, I am now free to be who I want to be, Holy Spirit because Jesus spoke it into existence. Help me, to be like one of those people in Your heavenly city? Help me to not take my sin lightly from this point, until the day of my redemption. Help me to never put out of my thoughts the remembrance of God, death, and the judgment to come? Help me to continue to listen to sound Bible preaching that can assist me to walk with You everyday and to sin less and less and love Jesus more and more? And grant me ears to hear, eyes to see and and heart to understand so that I may produce and bear one hundred fold for Your glory. I love You, Holy Spirit. I love You, Abba Father. I love You, Lord Jesus. Praise the Lord! I praise You because You have done it, Lord Jesus! Holy Spirit, open our eyes. Give us ears to hears this preaching always. The ones who use grace to justify their sin have shut their eyes to this preaching. Their have closed their ears. They have darkened their understanding. They have put You out of their remembrance. They do not turn to You, O God. Lest they should be saved by You.
