I don't pull things like that apart I just sit them in a couple of boxes with comb in the top box and they will move onto the new comb as soon as the queen starts laying up top discard the bottom comb

I think a smoker will do the trick chasing the last remaining bees on the outside into the hive. Anyhow I have learned a lot. Cobus
